So I'm watching the game again and this time I'm calm, so I can really pay attention, and I think it was a brilliant offensive game plan by Chan Gailey, and terrific execution of said game plan by Fitz and the Jets Wideouts.
Why was it a brilliant game plan?
I believe the reason Rex has been so successful against Fitz in the past, and certainly this applies to last years sweep of the Jets, is because he played mostly press coverage to take away the short to intermediate passing game and force Fitz to beat him deep. He was basically saying, I don't believe Fitz has enough arm to beat us deep, so we're taking away the underneath routes and challenging him to throw the ball down the field.
Well, Gailey learned from last year and he took that challenge. Fitz probably heaved the ball downfield more in this game than he has in any other game he has started for the Jets, and the results were terrific, the WR's were even winning most of the jump balls, thats why three WR's nearly cracked 100 and that won us the game in my view.
