And? Wesley Walker was coming off a devastating knee injury and was legally blind in one eye!l Like Wesley, because of his injuries, he came off the board much later than he otherwise would have.

Not saying he can't overcome those injury problems, just saying it's high risk. I've seen lots of athletes, one of my all time favorites Joe Montana, ( Back Injury ) come back from those injuries and play very well. These guys, however, are the exception, not the rule.

It is valid to want more emphasis on need in the draft. I would have preferred the highest rated center and cornerback where we drafted the tight end and the linebacker. However, according to Pro Football focus, we got excellent value with our picks. Williams got the highest grade ever for an interior lineman. Polite got the 4th highest pass rush grade this year. Edoga was rated number 64 on the PFF board, and we got him at 92. Cashman was rated 59th and we got him at 157. As for the cornerback, why not swing for the fences with a 6th round pick? I value PFF opinions. They rated Hack “undraftable.”,”

C overall for me!

First three picks gets them an A and the drop off goes from there. Mac started out great (I guess). Not that I’m saying Williams won’t be the man and the next great thing but I have to see it to believe it. I’m rooting for the kid most definitely. Polite was much needed as well. He seems to be a boom or bust. It’s obvious what we’re hoping for. They traded up for the USC oline men and that’s cool but will he be worth it? Hopefully so! The TE pick should have been Hakeem Butler, point blank plan and simple or the best center or CB on the board. As long as this TE turns out the be legit then OK, I guess! All the other picks, they don’t even seem to be anything worth talking about but hopefully they will be.

C overall for me!

butler was picked the 1st pick of the 4th round. how exactly should the jets have taken him after he was drafted???

I didn’t watch the third day of the draft. I thought he was drafted after our pick. I stand corrected!

I gave it a "C" grade. Q. Williams was the best player in the Draft as was Leo Williams was in his Draft year. ER was a bigger need. No trade up in RD#2 for a Center. Polite is a hit or miss at #3A. Edoga is also a hit or miss at #3B. Picks 4 thru 6, I don't care how you sugar coat them, another Macc blunder. Q. Williams and maybe Polite. Was just an average to below average draft for Macc which seems to be the norm for him. ER Allen at #1 and trade up in 2nd Rd for C McCoy would have had this site busing for what a great Draft Macc had. Instead, same old Macc except for the ones who sugar coat the draft year after year.

I gave a B. And it's a flat B, not plus or minus. They got arguably the best player in the draft. Tough to argue with that, need aside. They got some value picks, maybe a few reaches. Of course, it is way too early to tell.

Quinnen Williams is an A++ prospect but all the talk of trading down then flopping when the pick was on the clock was a joke...

Jachai Polite is an A+ talent but baggage in attitude and his lack of effort to keep in shape is a big red flag...

Chuma Edoga, NFL Comparison is Kelvin Beachum but far from Beachum now who is a capable blindside tackle, Edoga is a known finesse run blocker and uneven pass blocker doesn't bode well spending a 3rd for a project...

Trevon Wesco is a blocking tight end to pair with Herndon could be considered a smart selection but what happens with Eric Tomlinson our current blocking tight end that they just re-signed...

Blake Cashman has upside but entering a loaded position with plenty of competition, will be hard to pass him through waivers to the practice squad...

Blessun Austin has upside but he isn't likely to ever see that potential, injury prone makes Dee Milner look healthy...

This is what you call incomplete at best... One great pick that fell in their lap, then 5 projects with 2 showing immediate promise I don't know about this guys...

The first pick I'm good with Quinnen but would have preferred Allen. Couldn't go wrong with either.

The third pick time will tell on that. Polite can be a great value and certainly worth the risk based on our need. Winovich was the safer pick but I'll go with Polite and take the risk. I would attach him to Mosely to show him how to be a pro. Still would look to see if we could get a bargain on Ziggy. No one his bitting on him and maybe we can get a "prove it to me your healthy" contract.

No problem with Edoga other than having to give up a pick to move up one place. Not behind the scenes so I'll reluctantly give Mac the benefit of the doubt that it was worth giving up a pick to move up.

Biggest issue I had was at the 4th pick. I wouldn't have traded down and would have picked Julian Love for CB. It was a great need and a value at that pick. Still don't know what we're gonna do at the other CB spot.

The rest of the picks to me is just luck and special teamers.

I'd give him B-. The grade will most likely depend on if Polite works out -or- is a bust.

At some point in a future draft the Jets will have to invest in our offensive line. Hoping we do a D'brick/Mangold move next year.

Being that they got Polite I'm happy with Q... Although I was banging the drum for Allen... The highlights for Edoga make me optimistic but IF anyone else hits it's an A but now C at best considering they didn't draft OLine (Jordan) and he was there for the taking

More on Cashman:

The former Gophers linebacker’s stock appeared set to rise after he posted some of the best marks within his position group during testing Sunday in Indianapolis.

Cashman, a former U walk-on from Eden Prairie, posted five marks within the top seven players at his position, per nfl.com:

— Fourth in 40-yard dash: 4.50 seconds
— Fourth in 20-yard short shuttle: 4.12 seconds
— Tied for third in broad jump: 10 feet, four inches
— Tied for fifth in vertical jump: 37.5 inches
— Seventh in three-cone drill: 6.95 seconds

I read an outstanding interview with Cashman the other day. This could be our new Chrebet. He was a walk on who overcame a lot of odds and had an outstanding college resume. He said “people say I’m going to be the hardest worker, but when I say it, I mean it. I’m going to bust my ass for you. Whether it’s playing LB or special teams, I’m going to give you everything I’ve got”.

Watch out for this guy. I think he’s gonna be a player. This is the type of guy who excels on ST’s his first year or two, and then earns a spot as a starter.

No, I just think Macc could have picked better players that were available as is always the case in Macc's Drafts. My uncanny ability to know the future is to know why Macc doesn't draft for need is why we are always Drafting in the top 10 year after year.

The point is, you have no idea whether the players that YOU think are better than the ones that Mac picked, will actually turn out to be better. Just about all of the draft assessments that I've seen have said that the Jets actually got great value on their picks.

We are all GM's on this board. Unfortunately our input is just for this board. The Jets got good value with there picks. Q. Williams was graded the highest. I felt ER Allen was a better need fit. I like Polite. I wanted him whether we took Allen or not. After that I was not happy in what we drafted. I felt there were better need players for our team. I would have been much happier trading picks 4,5,& 6 for a Center or a better all around player. Your right, I have no crystal ball on whether my picks would be better then Macc's. Going by Macc's track record in later Rds I'd say I have a better then 50-50 to pick better players.

I listened to Maccagnan on the Michael Kay podcast yesterday. (I’m on the west coast). Basically, Macc said they emphasize best player on the board because they cannot justify taking a player lower on their board instead of a player they see as better value, based on some perceived need. He said there were good Centers in this draft, but they got scooped up pretty early (2nd-3rd rounds).

Without a 2nd round pick, and seeing Polite drop into the 3rd, made the decision pretty easy. Edge was a need too, and he had to decide between a Center and an Edge with that pick. Are we really going to complain about taking Polite over a Center? Macc said they felt comfortable taking Polite after looking at the tape and researching the combine situation. He also emphasized that there is always risk with a lot of players, and ultimately it comes down to the player committing to the program.

The Funny thing teach is that every player in the draft should say this.
