WTH are you talking about? I haven't ever attacked you. For that matter I haven't attacked anyone this site. I've had serious problems with their puppy dogs and sunsets beliefs about the Jets, but I haven't attacked anyone. You're out of your mind.

Well, in looking back, at least one thread has been closed and Elias mentioned you going after another poster. You've gotten into it with several posters here. You've told some that they have no idea what they are talking about. With me, I believe you referred to me as a "know nothing" at one point, which is just pathetic.

But I know, despite you being the common denominator, it's always the other person. You may not have any idea how rude and confrontational you come across when you say stuff like that. But you certainly get defensive when people respond to you the way you act toward them.

I'm willing to put an end to this. I'm fine with that.

i agree with your post aside from bolded..

even if smith is here next season, i don't believe for a nanosecond he has any interest in "working" with his competition..

& even if he was, petty already knows smith is a three dollar bill as do bowles & gailey..

They're all in the same group, Jetgreen13. And honestly, how do you know that Petty knows better than to listen to Geno? It could be something totally innocent like how do you set your feet? Geno gives him the wring info and Petty ends up thinking it's correct and it isn't. I guess really what it all boils down to is how strong of a person do you think Petty and any other understudy would be to know better than to go to or listen to anything GS has to say? I know that when I was their approximate age range, I would have never listened to GS because I wouldn't have liked him. Maybe it's the same for Bryce Petty, maybe he's a total follower? It really depends on the personalities at play.

But I haven't said anything rude and confrontational toward you in this thread. YOU sir, YOU are the one responding to posts I have left with sarcasm. It's not the other way around despite what you may think. So wouldn't that make YOU the instigator?

No, it wouldn't, especially since you do go on the attack, often first. You just refuse to acknowledge it. You may not have in this thread, but you have gone after me first on several occasions.

I've been around boards like this before. I've seen those who launch attacks on others and then play the victim card. This isn't exactly the first time I've seen this.

I have really only had an issue here with you, and no other posters, yet you have had issues with several posters. So it must be me.

with the fact petty are fitzpatrick are close, i find it hard/impossible to believe fitzpatrick hasn't let his understudy know the only thing you can learn from smith is how to be an entitled, guttless prick..

Well, I was gone from this site for a while. Since I have been back, you go back and study things. Tell me how often you could honestly say that I am being an instigator? Everything that has happened on this site with me and somebody else is because they took great umbrage to something I posted. In other words, they started it. And they proceeded to attack me with personal insults. In your case it's just a lot of sarcasm, but that still does NOT make me the instigator. In fact it is quite the opposite whether you would like to acknowledge it or not.

This is an internet message board, is it not? EVERY single persons opinion can be voiced here, can it not? What this entire thing boils down to is they do not like how harshly I criticize my favorite team and often the players, coaches, etc. Well, if they have a problem with that and they are going to attack me because of it? They can shove it directly up their rear ends. I don't care. MY take on things is as welcome here as YOURS or anyone else's.

Yes, I remember you being away when the Jets won, and returning to pat yourself on the back that Rex beat the Jets. You got confrontational with a lot of people, and in many instances were the one who started it. I already looked back through old threads. But like you said, your opinion is welcome here, though not every single person's opinion can be voiced here. Some have abused the privilege and are now banned.

I have been ready to move on with the thread. So let's do that. I see this differently from you, as you do from me. End of story. Time to move on.

One last thing..... Do not even attempt to portray me as the guy who was waiting for the team to f*ck up so I could come back here and antagonize other posters. That's a load of crap. I have been a Jets fan all my life and that's never going to change. Them disappointing at the end of the season is just par for the course being a Jets fan. I have experienced damn near all of it.

So in one post, you say, "EVERY single persons opinion can be voiced here, can it not?" And in the next, you threaten me for voicing mine?

Rather ironic.

Well, I'll take your word for it. I just hope you're right. But from a model standpoint of team chemistry and harmony you would never want that douchebag anywhere near the younger players, let alone the QB's the most important position on the field.

But everyone also has the right to criticize posts and that's Elias's words himself. You just think it is rather convenient to go after me as a person that so badly wants the Jets to fail and then go after posters on an internet message board because you can't possibly believe that the guy is a true fan. He couldn't possibly fit that wonderful mold that you came from, right? Rules of the board, pal. You should hear Elias's words and spend some time understanding them.

Yeah whatever. You must have it all figured out.

No, I think you have. You've set up this perfect universe where you are free to criticize others, but others can't say a word to you. You're allowed to be critical, but only you.

It's like those people who think that when other people rebut their opinions, those people are infringing on their free speech.

Yeah you're right, I'm wrong.

If the Jets draft a QB this year... Smith is gone.... All the talk about Petty needing 2yrs to learn the system and he never read a defense etc etc etc.....

Here is what I know....

1 - Geno breaks his jaw - Fitz has a creer year.... Fitz gets signes
2 - Geno wasn't ready to play till week 3 or 4 - Jets sign several veteran guys ( Flynn and Johnson ) to back up Fitz till Gen gets back
3 - Said Veterans are cut and for the first 3 weeks of the season Petty is the backup

What's my point? Mac, Bowles and Gailey were confident in Petty to be the backup as a rookie at the beginning of the season...

To me that means Petty will be the backup next year and get better reps without Geno there to continue improving. Cutting Geno does save us a million bucks which we don't have to woryy about finding a guy to be the backup. That'll be Petty and whoever we draft will be the #3 guy...

I'm inclined to agree with this. I was surprised when the Jets moved forward with Petty as the back up with Flynn signed. They were risking their whole season that if Fitz, who wasn't 100% from a broken leg, was injured week one, that Petty would be competent enough to carry the team to the bye.

That showed some faith in the kid. Of course I don't know where Petty's development is right now, but what i have observed is he and Fitz seem to be attached at the hip. Petty has a rep of being a very smart hard working kid. it would be a risk, but if his development has continued on the same trajectory he just might be ready sooner then thought.

Edit: I read in a fluff article a few weeks ago about Petty that he stated he and Fitz are very close, and he had spent two weeks in the off season as a guest in Ftiz's home, working with him, and playing with his kids.

Petty talked about how Fitz will text him at midnight a football situation, and want Petty to text him back the solution to it. Like a puzzle. IMO this bodes very well for Petty in the future.

Then this brings up an interesting scenario. If Petty is ready to play sooner rather than later, if the Jets sign Fitz to let's say a 2 yr deal worth 8-10 MM per/year, does Fitz then become a "progress blocker"? If the Jets sign Fitz to that kind of contract, he's going to start. Which means the kid will get no reps under fire for 2 more years. At some point, if the Jets brass thinks Petty is the answer, they're going to have to play him and let him learn in game conditions.

Yeah. Lets say the Jets sign Fitz to a 2 year 15 million dollar contract. They come into camp next season and Petty seems to have made tremendous strides. The CS feels very secure in having Petty as #2. Fitz still starts the season. The difference is between that, and what Petty did this year is that he isn't the "scout team" QB any more. Emulating the Dolphins QB, week 1, and the Bills QB week 2. Having PS players as his team. Players often playing out of position. Maybe a DE, making believe he is a WR while running the Fish O.

In practice he'll be running the Jets O, with #2's and sometimes #1's on his practice team. Fitz would still start the season, and as long as he's winning, and staying healthy, Petty will sit on the bench............Learning still. If an injury happens to Fitz, as it happened this year with his thumb, Petty gets a chance to Wally Pip him.

That's what was so interesting this year when Fitz got hurt. It was the perfect opportunity for the CS to see what smith had. The surgery situation screamed for Fitz to sit for a week or two. The fact that they rushed Fitz back a few days after surgery spoke volumes how they felt about putting the season in smith's hands.

The same situation happened with Brady/Bledsoe in camp the Pats strongly suspected Brady had a higher upside then Bledsoe but he continued to start until Mo put Brady on the field. It was coming anyhow, the injury just moved the arrival date up.

This of course is all hypothetical. It's assuming that Petty will not only have improved to be the back up, but good enough to supplant Fitz. If Petty is the real deal, he'll get his shot. He is in the perfect situation. If Fitz is injured, I am sure he will continue to be a mentor and friend to Petty. Nothing at all wrong with having 2 good QB's on a team. Particularly if one is an older, very intelligent, unselfish guy, and the other is a younger, much more talented guy who is willing to learn, and they are good friends.

Couldn't have a better situation.
