For me Bryce Petty is a no brainer.

Fitz and Geno are both in the walk year of their contracts and neither is coming back.

IMO its all about finding out if we have a QB for 2017 and beyond, thats the main thing we need to learn here.

So with Hack not being ready, by the CS's own admission his mechanics are a mess, its all about Petty in my view.

What say you?

Definitely Petty, but let Geno play a couple games to give Petty some time for first team reps and build a little chemistry. After a couple games there is absolutely no reason no to play Petty unless he is hurt.

Geno despite his acting like a middle school kid. He never really did get a chance.

It's a long shot but isn't that the very definition of this franchise?

It's Petty and that's an easy decision... The tough one is when.... I think Geno has until the bye week to show what he is capable of, if he can win 3 games and he is playing well he might stay in past the bye... If he is 2-2 or 1-3 and typical Geno. Petty will play coming out of the bye 100%....

Now if he plays 2 horrific games against the Ravens and Browns than I think Bryx is in there as early as the Dolphins game week 9.

2 years as the unchallenged starter says he got a chance....

... but with Stephen Hill, not Brandon Marshall.

A bit more practical education and experience can often improve one's effectiveness, no matter the discipline. Those that do succeed or fail often surprise you. It's one of the cool things about human beings. The only way to find out is to let 'em play.

Although I do not expect Mr. Smith to improve (or simply "get it") like Mssrs. Namath and Bradshaw did, for example (looks up their records), but in my 53rd season as a follower of this team, I am reduced to the comfort of irrational hope and unrealistic dreams.

I was all for the change to Geno and to be honest I think we should go back to him if for nothing else to get to Petty quicker.... With that said...as you said you gotta find out and let them play... Which they did for 2 years and they did with young guys like Hill too..So regardless of anything Smith has had a chance and like I said I do think he gets 3 more games before the bye before we decide on moving onto Petty.... Which we need to do.

One thing is for sure it shouldn't be Fitzpatrick.

Geno shows a really great arm and can make all the throws on the field with zip on them. I still have question about his pocket presence, taking sacks when he should be throwing it away and not feeling the pressure. Perhaps more time would help that but I'm dubious. I'd give him a few more starts but definitely want to see Petty after week ten unless Geno is killing it.

i saw enough yesterday..

in fairness smith did do a nice job outside of the numbers but the guy is still his worst enemy..

the position he put himself in where he ended up getting hurt speaks to his awareness from his rookie season, to yesterday..

very similar.....
