You guys are right: Darnold is “broken”

No one can debate that Sam has had terrible coaching, that he has had a putrid offensive line, and that he has had below average players at the skill/speed positions. Yes, I know that Robbie is tearing it up this year.
I was ecstatic when Sam was drafted. However, I have come to believe that Sam has to share in the blame. Yes, he has shown flashes of brilliance, but it appears to me that:
1. He locks onto his primary receiver. Has anyone ever seen him look off a defensive back?
2. If his primary is not open, , as has often been the case, he is slow to find his second option, let alone the third one.
3. In general, I do not think that h sees the field well at all or reads defenses well.
4. He makes at least 1 bone-headed decision every game.
5. Even allowing for the bad offensive line, I just don’t think that Sam has good pocket presence on the few occasions that he does have time.

I still feel the main problem is that he rarely has time to scan the field and to step into his throws. A better offensive line would alleviate the problems, but I no longer think that the problems would be eliminated. I think that Sami’s a great kid, but I now doubt that he will be a star, at least not with the Jets. I would love to be proven wrong. Maybe the Steelers, Colts, etc. will trade for Sam and get a bargain, and we will all lament what could have been.

1. Yes he locks onto his primary but also feel that is Gases way... Gives him a target to focus on and when it breaks down he is not prepared well to find the secondary option if there is one...

2. Sam is an improvisor style QB when it breaks down he scrambles to either allow his receivers to get open or he runs... But because of the porous pass protection he doesn't have the time to find someone open before he is rushed or is sacked...

3. Seeing the field is not the problem, reading defenses might be a hiccup that this coaching staff doesn't teach... It is a like a puppet master trying to control the puppet with three fingers and a battery controlled speaker... Gase all but admitted in a previous post game earlier in the season what he calls, Darnold runs... So how do we not know if what Gase calls, that is the player and only player Sam is suppose to throw too... Because that would make more sense then watching Sam act confused like a deer in the headlights when his primary is covered...

4. Adrenaline rush can only be hindered by instinct developed with continuous reps of the game play calls that they script in practice... Sam looks good on some throws because he sees and reacts and throws dimes on those wow plays... But sometimes like I said before if he is not comfortable with the play call, where he has to hold the ball instead of reading and reacting by instinct where he has to think he gets into trouble... Coaching is one aspect, but seems Darnold doesn't or hasn't developed that feel for the game... Again being pressured with the pocket always collapsing makes one overthink and sometime lose concentration and it shows with some piss pour throws at any time during game usually after the pocket collapses and or he gets sacked...

5. Like I said before Sam Darnold is a gun slinger that improvises when the play breaks down... Moving him around from the pocket will allow him to react rather than try to comprehend what he seeing... As a gun slinger it is the supporting cast that will elevate some bad throws into positive gains but until we acquire some additions it will always fall on play calling and Sam when shit hits the fan...

Sam has a strong personality he is thick skinned and wants to thrive... He wants to improve his play as well making the players around him better... He doesn't let the New York media affect him... He knows hears what is being said about him and he wants to prove everyone wrong... This is the type of player anyone should be proud to have, give him some time with JD fixing the offense and he will take the next step POST GASE...

He is not the only player in NFL history to have a bad OL. This is also not the worst OL in NFL history. Old man Warner had a bad OL when he went to the SB in 2008. He did well I would say.

not including this year, tom brady has gone to 20 superbowls behind a line that gives him 10 seconds to throw every time. tompabays line right now, of course, is just as good. they have to be cause tom would have a hissy fit if the werent. part of his multiyear deal with the devil. tommy will not be touched- ever. I'd like to see Sam or anybody else play behind bradys lines and keep their soul

Everyone here knows I love Darnold. I said year one that the Jets were what could ruin Darnold. I watched some plays from last game and he missed Mims and was late. He makes that throw year one because he had no fear. The Jets coaching staff have made him afraid and question what he sees. He also got hurt on a play that he didn't pull the trigger. He is not developing not because he can't, but he is not developing because the Jets can't develop him. I don't think he is ruined as a player. However I do think he is ruined as a Jet. So its time to move on and ruin the next one.

Lets hire Kodak to develop him. If they can't do it ...it can't be done
If they use IR film maybe his buddy will show up too. The only thing he has going for him now is that he is 23
