Speak for yourself on that!!! I'm not saying that I'm hurt here and will miss the guy but he was not as bad as you make him out to be. He helped to get the franchise started in the right direction and that's better then we can say for Idzik or Tannenbaum (or whatever his name is). Mac has his down faults but he was very good in other areas. I hope they get this right because if they don't, we will end up missing Mac GREATLY!!!

I was speaking for myself. Mac was a failure at building this team. He had a FQB fall in his lap like all his good draft picks. He should have been fired after his second consecutive 5-11 season. He had no idea how to build a team.

The media is wasting none of this. It’s amost as if they’re relishing this opportunity to #SOJ, #Buttfumble, #Remember1-15! their way through the headlines. So predictable. It doesn’t matter that we crushed FA, found a FQB, and are now filling this roster with talent.

Hey everyone! The Jets fired their GM! Pile on!!!

I’ve said it before John Dorsey was fired in June 2017 and that turned out fine for everyone. Jets will be fine without Mac. The Jets needed to do this two years ago. Time to turn the page.

Christopher Johnson:

On Maccagnan just 7 weeks ago: “I think he’s terrific at his job. He has a plan I believe in”.

Adam Gase:

On reported rift with Maccagnan: “it pisses me off that that’s put out there. Of course we disagree sometimes. How boring would it be if everyone always agreed?”

This organization has egg on its face today. We look like a joke. And this is coming from one of the most optimistic Jets fans on this board. Bad look, Chris.

I agree. The media will have a field day with this inconsistency coming from all 3 of them.

Like Billy Joel, Chris Johnson went out to the Jets' house in Hackensack, looked at the roster and asked, "Is that all you get for your money?
Then, he sacked that hack Mac.

I edited the first post to reflect that ....

A. Its not a rumor, it's a done deal, Mac if fired.

B. The rumored replacement is the VP of Player Personnel for the Eagles, Joe Douglas. Gase and Douglas have a relationship going back to Chicago.

D. Daniel Jeremiah (NFLN, former NFL Scout) is also being considered for a prominent position, perhaps VP of Player Personnel or something similar.

Guys - Johnson couldn't fire Mac before the draft, that would have been a mess. Even if he was considering it, he had to wait. People get fired all the time. I'm not surprised by this, nor am I disappointed necessarily. If it was working out with Mac and Gase, then it wasn't. And Mac and Bowles didn't work either. So if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. I credit Mac for doing some good things, and he got us a franchise QB, which is huge. I think he did a decent job that didn't translate to wins on the field. So, time for a change. To me this is no big deal, it's not amateur hour or dysfunction. It's just time for a change. The key to any good organization is having a good leadership team that is on the same page about the strategy and direction of the company or in this case, the team. I'm sure Christopher Johnson recognized that.

Gase deserves to work with a GM that understands what he wants. Apparently, Mac didn't, so they moved on. I'm fine with it.

I would add that this adds a lot of pressure onto Gates to perform well. You can't make this kind of move without expecting results - the Jets need to make the playoffs either this year or next and contend for a Super Bowl in 2021.
