There are two things positive that came out of this whole fiasco. No one got hurt and we will find out really quickly what this new regime is all about. They are tested early.
He's an NFL player...he gets special privileges.
I fully expect Richardson to be included in any trade up attempts for a QB next year...Gaily and the regime can pick the name: Cook, Hackenberg, Goff, or Jones...but I expect "if" we move up, he's part of the deal.
Does he have any value in your opinion?
Still haven't read enough about whether the gun he had was registered. If you throw that on with the rest (his existing 4 game suspension, reckless driving, endangering a child, additional marijuana) the commissioner will be forced to act hard on Richardson if the Jets don't do it first. This just sounds like we won't see our best defensive lineman till 2016, at the earliest. Ugh.. last few days with the Mets and Jets have been rough.
Richardson still has some trade value, but the Jets would be selling low. At this point, though, it's all there is. The guy is way too immature to play for this team. Mo, Snacks, and Williams need to be the focus, with Richardson an afterthought.

i'm shocked that the charges levied against him were so mild given how the story has been reported. how does an officer say everyone reaked of pot and then not charge anyone for that? (note this isn't taking a side on whether pot should be legalized, but as it stands today, it is illegal in missouri).
i have to think that richardson's 4 game suspension is about to get a lot longer. he will be lucky to see the field in 2015.
pay mo, lock up snacks, let williams show his stuff, and make richardson play out his rookie contract (assuming he ever sees the field again). he's cost himself tens of millions of dollars with his immaturity and stupidity. he may be a great talent, but is not someone a team can ever rely on. not now.
maybe he can truly get himself some help. not check into rehab for p.r. purposes. but to truly get himself some help and try to salvage what could have been a promising career.
i'm not of the group that says dump him today. he's still an asset and there is nothing to benefit from just giving up him up for nothing. but he's now a long way from earning the next contract. make him earn back the respect from his coaches and his teammates before he sees another penny. his trade value is next to nothing, so we might as well hold on to him and let the legal process and nfl sanctions play out.

I can't see how they are going to extend this more than a game or two. They reduced Hardy's suspension for beating a woman by 6 games. I personally only want him back to up his trade value next year.

Smelling like Pot is not a crime. The officer maybe could've have charged him with DUI, but I wonder if that would've stuck. I think the league can punish whether the charges stick or not, but then he will appeal. Right now there are going to be very few teams that want to take him off our hands , if any. Best move is to probably just wait and see if he can stay calm for the season
Spot on. I'm not sure if it's more my age but I have less and less tolerance for these types of things. I'd love for Boles/Mac to make a bold statement and cut him outright........

I actually think there is a scenario that will work out very well in the long run for the Jets. Get into that later, but right now the wife's cat is telling me the bass are breaking water in the back yard, and she wants some.
