Yeah, what a waists of a draft last year that we had. Fifteen plus WRs (give or take a few either way) that were true contributors last year and will be even better this year and we didn't manage to draft not one if them. NOT ONE! Thankfully we have some true threats this year and very legit guys worth drafting in FF like Marshall, Decker, D. Smith and Amaro. Only thing now is do we have a QB that can get them the ball to put up some worthy FF numbers. Hopefully so!
I think we've got a couple who can get the job done this year and maybe for the future too.

Definitely struggled vs press man coverage getting off the line. He was a very frustrating player to watch...even when the play went away from him. Seeing him sit there still at the line long after the pass had been thrown. I agree with this point...never played like he was 6'3.
dude is one the fastest non athletic guys i've ever seen play ball..

everything he does on the field looks forced & uncoordinated..

LOLz he's almost like watching a new born deer trying to get around!!

are you gonna blame the fact the hill couldn't even get off the panthers practice squad last year on the jets QBs?
No, because his coach said the Panthers made a conscious decision to keep him there so he could be better prepared, mentally AND PHYSICALLY (continuing knee problem), for THIS season.
(Several articles have made mention of this over the past year.)

Riverboat Ron never had any intention of promoting Hill to the roster last year & Hill signed with them knowing that full well. In fact, he may actually have been looking for just such a rest, recover, and catch up, position for himself.

I watch what's going on away from the ball, too. And I watched Hill getting owned by CB's covering him like a blanket half the time as he feebly waved his hand up in the air. "I'm open! I'm open!"

And believe me, I used to call for patience with this guy. The patience fizzled out. Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane, as the old saying goes.
Not many WRs get all that open in the NFL unless their coverage gets blown. Hill's advantage is height, in jump ball situations, and speed to get in front of defenders, where a DECENT QB, (not named Dirty Snatches or GeNOT Smith), can hit him in stride so he can keep on going, not wait around for the ball to arrive while any defender he may have already beaten closes up what margin he gained.

Marshall doesn't get huge windows either, he's not all that fast, but he DOES get the ball, regardless of how tightly he's covered.
At some point the training wheels should have come off both Jets QBs and they SHOULD have trusted Hill more.
They did in BUF and look at the results.

Hill was open enough, even though HYATT™ agrees he's not the slickest route runner in the league, and a DECENT QB should trust his athleticism - just the way they did another not-so-polished route runner - Braylon Edwards.
Given the completion percentage of both past Jets QBs, HYATT™ can understand why they might be afraid to trust Hill's speed and height, but what was he drafted for if not those 2 very qualities?

Newton, in CAR, WILL keep feeding Hill, because he's fast and he's tall, and apparently has decent hands as well. He's no dummy, DOES make ALL of his reads, not just 1 or 2 - and he's certainly not a "fraidy-cat" like Mr. Smith - even if he does have a tendency to spray his passes a little on the high side anyway.

Paul Richardson - WR - Seahawks
Coach Pete Carroll said WR Paul Richardson (knee) could return early in training camp.
There isn't a coach in the NFL with more rose-colored glasses than Pete Carroll when it comes to injury timetables. Richardson is recovering from January ACL surgery. He remains unlikely to be ready for the start of camp. Richardson is a candidate to open the season on the reserve/PUP list.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins - TE - Buccaneers
Pewter Report says TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins was "virtually uncoverable" during OTAs and minicamps.
Seferian-Jenkins' rookie year was stunted by a college foot injury, and subsequent issues with his conditioning, back and ankle. Now the 6'5/262 mountain of a man is fully healthy and playing in a Dirk Koetter scheme that has previously squeezed a career year out of Marcedes Lewis and heavily utilized Tony Gonzalez. ASJ also gets a quarterback upgrade in the form of Jameis Winston, who targeted TE Nick O'Leary a nation-high 73 times at Florida State last year. Mount Seferian has a reasonable amount of sleeper appeal as a flier available in the 11th- to 14th-round range.

Jarvis Landry - WR - Dolphins
Jarvis Landry is working out at Pete Bommarito Performance Systems in Davie (FL) in an effort to improve his straight-line speed.
Landry ran a brutal 4.77 forty at the 2014 Scouting Combine, and 4.61 at the LSU Pro Day. He wants to show the coaching staff he can be more than a rugged slot receiver. "Absolutely," Landry replied when asked if his speed has improved. "I can't wait to show it." Landry remains ticketed for the slot on the Dolphins, with Kenny Stills, DeVante Parker, and Greg Jennings on the outside.

Josh Huff - WR - Eagles
NJ.com says Josh Huff was "very impressive" through OTAs and minicamp.
This is the most positive take we've heard on Huff's offseason, as some Eagles beat writers were disappointed in his performance. In the end, Huff will have to step up with the pads on in August if he is going to beat out blocker Riley Cooper for the No. 3 wideout job behind Jordan Matthews and Nelson Agholor. In a worst-case scenario, Huff will end up as a sub-package receiver and return man.

Teddy Bridgewater - QB - Vikings
Vikings OC Norv Turner said Teddy Bridgewater was "much more decisive" during the final six games of last season.
Buoyed by the Charles Johnson-for-Cordarrelle Patterson switch, Bridgewater settled in down the stretch. He posted a 10:6 TD-to-INT ratio, 68.9 completion rate, and 98.1 QB rating across the last six games with yardage that would extrapolate to 3,840 in 16 games. Now Bridgewater has a year of the Norv offense under his belt, a healthy Kyle Rudolph and a true lid-lifter in Mike Wallace.

Jordan Matthews - WR - Eagles
Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski believes Jordan Matthews is "going to have a big season."
Matthews "destroyed" practice on Monday, racking up "catch after catch after catch" as the "best player on the field." Kempski went on to say the second-year wideout has star potential. A more athletic version of Marques Colston, Matthews is underrated everywhere except in fantasy circles. He's a fine late-third or early-fourth-round pick.

Carlos Hyde - RB - 49ers
First-year 49ers OC Geep Chryst says he does not want "tightly defined roles" in San Francisco's backfield this season.
Chryst also said he has "no idea" how the depth chart will shake out. "That's what we need camp to find out." Carlos Hyde remains the front-runner for early-down work, while Reggie Bush should be the top option in passing situations. Kendall Hunter and rookie Mike Davis are also vying for tailback snaps.

Troy Niklas - TE - Cardinals
Cardinals activated TE Troy Niklas (ankle, hamstring) from the active/NFI list.
Niklas was recovering from a June ankle scope. His practice reps should remain limited for the foreseeable future, while he may not be ready for the first preseason game.

Justin Gilbert - DB - Browns
Browns CB Justin Gilbert continues to run behind Pierre Desir at camp.
Gilbert was the No. 8 overall pick in 2014 out of Oklahoma State while Desir went 127th overall out of D-II Lindenwood. That hasn't stopped Desir from earning the No. 3 job on the depth chart, behind starters Joe Haden and Tramon Williams. Gilbert might be the biggest disappointment in the 2014 draft if it wasn't for Johnny Manziel, who the Browns took 22nd overall that year.

Odell Beckham - WR - Giants
Odell Beckham (hamstring) is participating on a "pitch count" as Giants camp opens.
Beckham is getting a few reps off in team work, but is starting and finishing practices. The hamstring he mildly tweaked during OTAs is not an issue. Per NJ.com, Beckham was "the best and most explosive player on the field" during the first session last week.

Martavis Bryant - WR - Steelers
Martavis Bryant (elbow) is expected to miss the Hall of Fame Game in a "worst case scenario."
Bryant underwent a "minor" procedure to fix an infection. He'll miss "several" days, but should be back for the first full week of preseason. The Steelers kick off the exhibition season against the Vikings one week from today.

Jordan Matthews - WR - Eagles
Jordan Matthews lined up at slot receiver in three-wide sets on the first day of Eagles camp Sunday.
Matthews was inside with Josh Huff and Riley Cooper on the perimeter. First-round pick Nelson Agholor should easily win one of the outside jobs before Week 1. Matthews' day-one alignment all but confirms he will indeed continue to fill a Colstonian role in Chip Kelly's offense, creating mismatches between the numbers. Matthews is a high-floor WR2 pick in his second NFL season.

Jadeveon Clowney - LB - Texans
Texans coach Bill O'Brien said his goal is to have Jadeveon Clowney (knee) back at practice by August 17.
That would give Clowney roughly a month to prepare for September 13's season opener against Kansas City. Knee issues limited the 22-year-old to four games as a rookie in 2014. Houston will have one of the AFC's top front sevens if Clowney can recapture his college form and stay on the field this season.

Johnny Manziel - QB - Browns
ESPN Cleveland says there's "tangible evidence" of Johnny Manziel's improvement through four training camp practices.
Manziel became the butt of (more) jokes when he bungled his first few camp reps. But the Browns appear pleased with their backup quarterback's progress, as he's gone 43-of-62 (69.3 percent) in camp drills while showing improved accuracy. Starter Josh McCown has gone 54-of-75 (72.0 percent).

Question for all the Stephen Hill haters out there ? After Hill's first game against the Browns where he lit them up, everyone on this board or having anything to do with the Jets were calling him the best WR prospect the Jets have ever had ? Football is also a mental game, and between Rex & abusive Jet fans, it killed Hill's confidence in football. He lost his MOJO with the Jets.

If he's mentally weak, the NFL wasnt for him anyway. Take his mentally weak ass to Canada then.

I dont want any certificates for participation athletes on the Jets. I want winners and go-getters.

No need for this. especially publicly. calling someone out is just going to start a fight, derail the thread, and cause others to be disgusted. not to mention that it's not in the spirit of THIS board.

Marqise Lee battling another hamstring injury

Posted by Josh Alper on August 5, 2015, 5:09 PM EDT
Marqise Lee
AP
Since being drafted in the second round last year, Jaguars wide receiver Marqise Lee has spent a lot of time recovering from injuries so he should be familiar with the process he’ll be going through in the near future.

Lee injured his hamstring during Wednesday’s practice while running a route. His injury comes a couple of days after he took Monday off to reduce his workload after battling a knee injury during the team’s offseason program. Lee dealt with hamstring and knee injuries during his rookie season as well.

Coach Gus Bradley said there wasn’t any indication of the severity of Lee’s latest injury yet.

“We’ll just wait and see to what degree it is and where we go from there,” Bradley said, via ESPN.com. “I know for him it’s disappointing. He really wanted to go. Fortunately it’s this time of year and fortunately it’s not anything season-ending or anything like that. We’ll deal with it.”

General Manager Dave Caldwell said earlier this week that he didn’t think Lee was injury prone, which may not be the most popular opinion in Jacksonville in light of Wednesday’s development.

Anthony Barr - LB - Vikings
Vikings SLB Anthony Barr has been dealing with inflammation in his surgically-repaired left knee.
Barr is missing practice time, but coach Mike Zimmer isn't concerned. "(We) anticipate he’ll be back here pretty quick," Zimmer said. "Right now we have to get the injury settled down and then start working on conditioning." Barr is fully expected to be ready for Week 1.
