WR Devin Smith led all Power 5 receivers in receptions (17) and TD (10) on passes thrown at least 20 yards downfield in 2014, per ESPN Stats

The beauty of this pick is he will blow the op of Defenses and let Decker and Marshall feast 20 yds and in... And it's gonna leave Kerely being covered by there 4th or 5th DB.. The only thing that can stall this offense is the QB play IMHO

you call your daughter peanut too?

she is. She's tall, 45 inches tall in kindergarten, but only 38lbs. :)

I took her to Orlando for Springbreak...she was 5 (at the time, 6 as of last weekend) and she rode some of the rollercoasters. She was mad she couldnt ride all of them. I had to explain to her most 5 year olds dont get to ride any rollercoasters...you're just 8 year old height. ;)

I don't love the draft so far but I have so much more faith in Macc than I did with Bradway/Idzik. He gets the benefit of the doubt at this point from me.

I would have gone DGB or Jalen Strong or Tyler Lockett or Rashad Greene there. I like them all better than Smith.

One thing is obvious though. They are selecting high character, disciplined, coachable players. The Rex era of knuckleheads is over. And we can all rejoice on that.

I agree with you as I would have liked someone other then Smith. Cannot take it away from him, Smith sure can fly!

Love this pick. Jets finally draft a WR that can help this offense. I didn't know anything about this kid so would have rather gone DGB or Strong. Obviously the new regine know what they were doing. DGB got picked a few spots after our pick and Strong just got picked. Which was about 15 picks after ours. So obviously a lot of teams didn't think that much of the other two guys.

Curious, don't the Jets already have this guy on the roster under the name of Saalim Hakim?

well i knew they would do this to me. after me saying i wasn't that big of a fan of smith (and nothing to do with osu...mangold is one of my all time favorite jets), i knew he was gonna be our pick.

i felt he was too much of a one-trick pony in college (albeit REALLY good at that one trick). hopefully he is able to become a more complete WR in the pros. although the one thing he is really good at is something that complements the rest of the WR corps very well. he's also great as a gunner on specials, so that helps.

i don't hate the pick. it addressed a need, was a player considered a borderline 1st rounder, and is a good fit for the offense. i just would have preferred other WRs. shocked strong fell so far.

You may be right. But it's a very good trick, and it's a trick the team needs, and one that helps the other receivers do other tricks.

I do think he's going to surprise some people in this area. The guys on Sirius really like him and think he'll be a #2 one day due to his underrated route running ability.

I think the kid can play and run routes beyond the go route. He may be known as a deep threat, but he can do more. Perfect pick in round 2.

My peanut will be 15 this year as well.. October to be exact. They grow to fast..

I hate Ohio State but I have to say I have watched this kid play and he plays faster than anyone else on the field. He has good hands. He has great tracking ability on the ball... Geez can you imagine if Kyle Wilson had Smiths ball awareness....LOL!!
