There are a lot of good things that can happen:
1. Perhaps Travis is good to go, in which case we go with Tyrod, Travis and Martinez. When Tyrod gets injured midseason we have a natural succession.
2. Perhaps the new O-line coaches use a better blocking scheme than Carter's, and we get Breece Hall back on track.
3. Perhaps the YAC King flourishes under the new regime after release from Rodgers' doghouse.
4. Perhaps we can have an offensive game plan like other teams rather than playing it off the cuff under Rodgers. And we should have fewer false start and delay penalties.
5. Perhaps we draft a run-stuffing DT to play alongside Q and set him free to resume his form of two years ago.
6. Perhaps Glenn doesn't tolerate the poor tackling by the defense. A survey currently on nfl.com ranks the Jets 30th.
7. Perhaps Glenn doesn't tolerate poor discipline unlike Saleh and invites perpetrators to sit awhile on the bench.

Whatever happens I don't see them matching the Bills, who are too well coached and managed, but a winning season and minor playoff berth are not impossible.

Regardless, there is a lot to look forward to. I'm going into next year with reasonable expectations (.500) with a growing head coach, better discipline, the growth of certain young players, and many of the things Beresford mentions above. Came in expecting too much last year and was seriously disappointed. I want a competitive team that doesn't beat itself.

I saw this survey also and didn't agree with it. I thought it was really unfair. In my opinion, and my past post bare this out, they were highly over rated. A "G" or "H" maybe. They were horrendous at tackling. Good post, by the way.

No I don’t! I remember a few years of success with Vinny Testerverde, Chad Pennington, Mark Sanchez, Richard Todd and Ken O’Brien. Some were playoffs and even AFC Championship years. Some were just decent seasons that I wouldn’t consider failures. Just not playoff seasons.

Let’s not act like the only seasons we’ve had of success was with Rodgers because that’s a total untruth. Two years of abject failures with Rodgers. One wasn’t his fault and other was, or he had ALOT to do with it! It’s pretty clear to me that the Jets are no better off with Rodgers than without him.

Richard Todd went to the mudbowl and lost to Miami for the 3rd consecutive time that season. That is not good. That sucked

i think the best thing Kenny O ‘Brien did was beat Miami 51 -45 . Great game, but meaningless

Sanchez mostly sucked in the regular season. I think every year that he played, we had to bet which week the jets would score their first td. Rex made it fun, but still no SB appearance

Vinny would have won us a SB with Parcells had he not blown out his Achilles week one just like Rodgers. Just like Rodgers. That was our best season since 1969 and it ended week 1

winning the SB is why they play the sport. Anything shy of that is failure and the Jets have been full of failure for my whole life except once and I was 3 years old so I missed it
