I think expecting the Jets to be able to land 2 or 3 top CBs is asking a bit much. They can't just pick and choose which guys they get. One legit #1 would make the unit a lot better, and two guys would be more than can reasonably hoped for.

Fortunately, the Sanchez news may help the Jets land Foles. Foles, an improved OL, this WR corps, and the RBs we have would make for a pretty solid offense.

DAMN STRAIGHT!! :smiley-bounce016:

I am not surprised at all at the money these guys are getting. It is maybe the greatest year to be a free agent with all the teams that have a ton to spend. With the cap going up 20M over the last two years and all the carry over added to that the price of poker just went up to get a guy like Suh, Maxwell, etc..

I wonder if Macagnan is feeling the pressure to get in the game for one of the tier one guys. Starting to get a little uneasy (natural feeling with a new GM as well as memories of last year). I'll check back again after the Rangers put it to the Hawks tonight. Now that Franklin is gone would love to see Iupati's names in green and white.

I can only hope this helps us land foles

I think Cary Williams is landed at some point. That may not be the flashiest, but it does help the unit.

Tramon? Maybe. Philly can't sign everyone.

Did you see Foles stats last year in Chip Kelly's very QB friendly offense? They were slightly better then Smith's.

Birds fans were glad to see Sanchez. There is a reason the rumors are that Kelly is willing to give up the farm for Mariota.

Have you watched the jets qb play since Vinny? Do you not want a 26 year old pro bowl qb who has proven to play well in the league? A qb with almost a 3:1 td to int ratio...he is in his walk year. If he can't play he walks and we use our two first round picks (ours and the eagles) to trade up and get cook or hackenberg next year. A deal to get foles would be for the present and future.

Everyone is talking about system qbs, maybe foles didn't fit chips system. So. Crucify him? Look at sanchezs stats, he didn't seem to fit either. This spread offense doesn't work. Rg3, kaep, it's gonna fall by the side like the wild cat has died. You even have people saying mariota would need to sit a year if he isn't in Kelly's offense. Some qb. Give me a pocket passer like foles. How anyone doesn't like this deal is beyond me.

Is Franklin to San Diego a done deal?

Bills close to deal to retain pass-rusher Jerry Hughes

Jerry Hughes

One of the biggest names on the free agent pass-rusher market may never get there.

According to Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News, the Bills are close to finalizing a deal for defensive end Jerry Hughes.

That will be a huge deal for the Bills, who made an equivalent splash on the other side of the ball of running back LeSean McCoy.

Hughes looked like a bust in Indianapolis, but has posted back-to-back 10.0 sack seasons with the Bills. He’s still just 26, so the Bills clearly saw enough in him to warrant what will certainly be a huge investment.

Torrey Smith says goodbye to Baltimore

Torrey Smith can’t officially sign with another team until Tuesday. But he already knows he’s leaving Baltimore.

Smith, the soon-to-be free agent wide receiver who has spent his entire career with the Ravens, wrote an open letter today thanking the team, his coaches, teammates and fans for four good years together.

“I will be playing for a different organization, but I will remain committed to the City of Baltimore,” Smith wrote. “I will continue to give back and help build a better future for our young men and women. MY COMMITMENT TO THE CITY IS FOR LIFE. This isn’t a goodbye because I will still be around and Baltimore will continue to be my home in the offseason and when my career is done. I’m on to the next chapter of my life and football career, but I will see you guys later.”

Smith didn’t say where he’s heading next, but he’s reportedly ready to agree to a contract with the 49ers as soon as he can legally do so, on Tuesday.

Maclin a CHief:

Jeremy Maclin - WR - Eagles
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports free agent Jeremy Maclin plans to sign with the Chiefs on Tuesday.
This is a worst case scenario for Maclin's fantasy outlook. Not only is Alex Smith unwilling to pull the trigger on what he deems difficult throws, but Andy Reid's offense is "spread the wealth" in nature, and doesn't heavily target one specific player. Maclin never broke out in Philadelphia until he had Chip Kelly scheming him the football in 2014. In order to clear enough salary cap room for Maclin, the Chiefs are expected to release Dwayne Bowe. They may also have to move on from their pursuit of free agent C Rodney Hudson.

Ryan Mallett - QB - Texans
The Jets have "inquired about" free agent Ryan Mallett.
They've also "inquired about" free agent Brian Hoyer in new GM Mike Maccagnan's pursuit of competition for Geno Smith. It's believed the Texans want to sign both Mallett and Hoyer, although that seems fairly unrealistic. It's possible one goes to the Texans, and the other signs with the Jets.

I was prepared to do that because frankly I didn't know teams were going to start locking up the A-list free agents before Tuesday, but with reports flying fast and furious that they are getting these guys locked up before we even get to Tuesday, I'm just wondering why we are not being linked to anyone of note?

Last year I thought Idzik got overwhelmed by the speed with which the A-list FA's flew off the board, and I hope thats not repeating itself. I don't want to panic, but last year is still extremely vivid with me.

Keep in mind none of these reports are coming from the actual team

Devin McCourty - DB - Patriots
The Patriots are "working to keep" free agent FS Devin McCourty.
The Eagles seem to be their primary competition. There is some feeling the Patriots may have to choose between McCourty and Darrelle Revis, but in an ideal world they would keep both. New England finally built one of the NFL's top defenses in 2014. A huge reason for that was the play of McCourty.

LOL Yes I have seen the Jets QB's. And yes Foles had a great season in 2013. He also sucked in 2014. He certainly wouldn't be the first one hit wonder to hit the NFL. Foles did fit Chips system, he was very bad last year.

What you are leaving out of your analogy is the Jets would be sacrificing the #6 pick in this years draft, for a QB, as you said is in his walk year, in the hope that Chip Kelly doesn't know QB's. Sanchez sucks, that doesn't surprise me much. Interestingly enough the latest tweets indicate that the Eagles want to resign him.

I'm not sold on Foles, if Marioata is available, I probably take him. If Kelly wants him he is going to have to give up a ton. 2 1's and 2 2's , and Foles.

So I'll agree, it's beyond you

No need to be rude or anything. It's not beyond me. Your package is perfect and I agree with it. So if it's beyond me than it's also behind you since I agree with the package you put forth.

The Iggles are KILLING their cap. Destroying it.

But they also could be hurting New England's.
