I guess that's the going rate then on moving up from 20 to 6. I don't think it speaks much of Foles' value. I think one of the 2nd rounders would get knocked off but hey, I'd take this action every day of the week. And I think Mike would too and based on his comments regarding making the team overall better, maybe he's prepping the fan base for this inevitable action.
But is that possible? It would mean Manish was right. Naaaaa!!!!!
Honestly, I don't remember where. But, I remember hearing this idea a little while back, not on a board or from manish. So this topic wasn't really out of left field. It makes sense. Chip loved Marcus and he wants him to run the same system in Philly. Chip has full control over there. So much control that when foles could've played he stuck with Sanchez....Sanchez. If jameis goes to the bucs, barring a trade, mariota will be there at 6. The jets need a qb, mariota likely would need time to adjust in our system, bad free agent class at qb. The parameters are there. I don't think we would get 4 picks and foles. Foles would be used to lower the pick total. I can see this years first and next years. Which is really like giving up one pick because we are swapping ours this year. So the deal would be foles and next years one for 6. Personally, I want this to happen. And I hope it does. We have seen what mariota will do through geno, too many similarities.

Yeah, you're right. This rumor had been going around for weeks before Manish ran with it. It's interesting to note that you mention Kelly sat Foles when he was healthy. We'll keep an eye on this. If Kelly wants Mariota that bad, we should be able to get more than you suggest. At a minimum, a 2nd thrown in I would guess. I haven't heard many if any Jet fan balk at this proposal. If that poll went up in NY, it might be over 80 percent in favor.

I guess we'll have to see how this unravels. If Kelly is that hot for Mariota, he just might give up the farm. A top QB in the draft has what ever value you can get. Look what the Redskins gave up for RGIII, and how well that has worked out
I think that large haul had to do with the fact it was trading just draft picks. This deal would involve a player. And not a scrub player
Yeah I remember hearing he was healthy enough to play. Maybe not 100%, but good enough to play in a playoff race.

Whether Foles is a scrub player or not is arguable. Right now he is being treated like a scrub player by both Kelly and the fans.
This situation which I didn't think had a chance of happening really bears watching.
Foles is better then any QB we have on our roster and because of that its worth looking into. What he's proven so far that he can do and the fact he's only 26, you can't pass him up with a first and second round pick this and next year. Besides, Mariota has only proven he can only run a Chip Kelly style offense and being that we won't be running a offense like that, its a no brainer. Now can Mariota run a different style offense we don't know but we do know Foles can. Please God let this happen!

On thing to consider (and advertise for leverage purposes) is that Gailey's offense does resemble Kelly's. I have often read that Gailey was Kelly before he cam on the scene with spread formation and up-tempo attack. Maybe it's reasonable that Mariota is a fit for OUR offense. I would at the very least spin this that way and it may be true.
Good point and that could be very true. One thing we can't debate is that Nick Foles has proven he can play well in a Chip Kelly system so its very safe to assume he play well in Gailey's system. Whatever system that might be. We don't know what we would get from Mariota in any system.
My prediction for draft day is after the Raiders select Cooper with the 4th pick. The Skins announce a trade with the Browns (not the Eagles) to acquire their two first rounders (and a later pick) and the Browns select Mariota. The reaction from the Jet media will be nothing short of insanity.

gailey made kordell stewart a servicble and play-off QB so I think any QB we bring in he can work with he pretty much has run the gamut of types of QB he has worked with. All have been more successful with gailey than without.

This could very well happen. Actually I'm anticipating someone coming up in front of the Jets to get Mariota. If it's the Birds they will go to the Raiders at #4 .
The good news is there will still be a very good player at 6 for the Jets, it just won't be the windfall a Philly trade would bring
A very strong possibility, IMO. The Browns are pissed about how Johnny Football has worked out so far, and word is they're exploring other options. I think they want Mariota, too, and would probably be willing to trade both picks for the QB. Again, all this is speculation, and none of these stories really have legs until you start seeing big names like Schefter, Mortensen, and Breer reporting trade talks.
Regarding Foles, I like him. I think he's demonstrated he can play well at this level. Sanchez took the job due to injury, and kept it because he was on a roll. Sanchez is still an average QB, though. I believe Foles is better. If we got Foles and the 20th pick, plus next year's #1 from the Eagles, I make that trade. You don't even need to throw in 2nd rounders for me.

Followed immediately by each team giving each terminal bust his outright release

Which could in turn inspire Philly and/or Cleveland to deal with Oakland. Which could work out great as Cooper would fall to us and Foles would be on the trading block and potentially acquired for a mid-round pick.
I'd be on board with Amari Cooper.
Think about this: Foles, Cooper, Decker, Kerley, Amaro, Ivory, Spiller....
