C'mon Hobson, you're better than making such specious comparisons. You are comparing the rookie and sophomore seasons of a guy coming from a spread offense in college and coming to a talent-poor offense with a mediocre at best OC, to a guy in what, his 13th season in the NFL, in an offense with which he has already had success, with a great OC and two of the best WRs in the league? Wow, shocking that Geno comes out looking worse in that comparison! But there is much reason to think that the Geno of today could be far better now, having had last season to sit and learn, and having Gailey as his OC and an offense with real weapons.same old jets to me would be getting rid of a QB that set franchise records for TDs and yards for a guy who had 2 of the worst statistical seasons in the league the years he was the starter.
in his career, geno has 27 TDs and 35 Ints and a 72 QB rating. last year, fitz had 31 and 15 and a 88 rating. the year before in houston, he was 17 TD, 8 Int and a 95 rating.
but yeah, let's go with the worse QB because you think $6 million is too much for a starting QB in the league. even though the average starting QB makes well over $10 million per year. at $12 million, fitz would be the 22nd or so highest paid QB.
bargain shopping gets you more Ints than TDs and the #29 rated QB in 2014 and #37 rated QB in 2013. i hate the term, but THAT seems like same old jets to me...
But again, here we go again assuming that the players hate Geno. This is nothing but fan speculation. If I'm Brandon Marshall, and I really dislike Geno Smith, I'm not commenting at all. It's the official "no comment". Marshall, Decker, and Gailey have all said very positive things about Geno over the last few weeks, but I guess that's just a coincidence? It's all just a big smokescreen? Apparently, it doesn't mean anything when it contradicts the views of those trying to prove some point here.
I'm supposed to see some hidden message in what these players and coaches are saying. I'm not allowed to take them for their word. I'm supposed to read between the lines and go along with this "banish Geno to the gates of hell" narrative that his detractors demand.
Sorry, but I'm not buying this line of reasoning.
You're twisting words to suit your purpose, I could say the same exact thing in reference to your post.
Again what are they supposed to say to the public? I've never heard players bashing another player even when they suck, so I ask you "what should we expect from them"?
Funny how you give a pass to Foles for his lack of weapons in St Louis, but Geno who had Jeremy Kerley as his #1 in 2013 is vilified. You can like or dislike anyone you want, but be fair about it.

Hmm, i never heard Foles get knocked the "f" out by his own teammate? I never heard Foles flip his left middle finger at his own fans. I never heard Foles miss a team meeting out west because of a confusion in time. I never heard Foles yelling obscenities to his own fans here in new york (as in week 4 vs the Lions, when games actually mattered).
Yeah, i'am pretty damn fair in my assessment with a bum like Geno Smith who lacks the respect of his own teammates, with or without all stars.
Come on man, how many chances and excuses can we give Geno Smith? Some act as if this guy is some sort of hidden Brett Favre'ish Gem. Let it go folks, the guy is absolute trash. The organization knows it as well or they would not have selected two young guns to groom. Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg will not get cut in favor of a hold over in Geno Smith. No chance once Ryan Fitzpatrick re-signs or the Jets trade for a QB such as Nick Foles who wants out of St.Louis, in which the Jets will have some interest as he would automatically jump to the top of the list of free-agent quarterbacks. I don't really blame him. There are some truly moronic Jet fans!!
Emotions run high. Though as a professional, you dont do that. Especially when the season is 4 games in. You showcase your demeanor in times of distress and prove the fans wrong by your play..not body language insulting your fan base. By degrading your own fans, now you have a bigger crowd against you, even those that actually supported him in year 2. Geno Smith has proven time and time again that being a professional isn't part of his repertoire.
I wasn't making any excuses for anyone, just critical of you for giving Foles a pass for his poor performance and criticizing Smith who had the same lack of surrounding talent. Your hatred for Smith obviously clouds your ability to see that. I'm not saying Smith is anything more than what his performance has been, and that has been poor. It is you who seems to think that any time someone injects some sanity into the "hate Geno" conversation that they are a Geno apologist.Come on man, how many chances and excuses can we give Geno Smith? Actions speak louder than words. Thats pretty much true anywhere, but in pro sports, where they look straight into the camera and say the exact opposite of what they think or will do, without a care, and often knowing the truth will be exposed in hours or days, words mean nothing - one way or the other - compared to actions. Staying away from OTAs said it all.But again, here we go again assuming that the players hate Geno. This is nothing but fan speculation. Gee, if only they somehow knew your secret, that saying those things would be taken as a sign that they don't support Geno... Yeah, there are some real dummies in the league that do those sort of things and then get called on it by their coaches, front office, etc., but they're not all that dumb and transparent - or at least they're smart enough to take the advice of the pros advising them on how to handle the media. If you read my post, you'd see that what I was referring to was that it's common for players to refrain from bashing their teammates publicly. If players are avoiding questions concerning Geno, or saying "I'm not gonna comment on that", then I see trouble due to the fact that they're not defending him.
But that's not happening. Gailey, Marshall, and Decker all said very positive things about Geno. If they're lying, that's a pretty deceptive tactic to use in disguising their dislike for him.
you would think that using two guys that boycotted the first two OTAs wouldn't be the best guys to use while attempting to bolster one's argument..Actions speak louder than words. yeah, "no comment" certainly wouldn't let us now how a teammate feels about smith when asked about him.....Gee, if only they somehow knew your secret, that saying those things would be taken as a sign that they don't support Geno... yeah, no way decker & marshall are now toeing the company line after making their feelings known to management..You would think that an intellectually honest person would stop spouting the lie about Decker and Marshall boycotting OTAs in solidarity with Fitzpatrick now that both of them have explicitly stated that those rumors were 100% false and that their absences had zero to do with that. Or do you only read stories that support your narrative?
yeah, no way decker & marshall are now toeing the company line after making their feelings known to management..
because as we all know, people never say things they absolutely don't mean in interviews..
i will give you this, it is speculation on my part decker & marshall are being disingenuous about why they missed the first OTAs..
much like you are speculating they are telling the truth & not public damage control mandated from management..
ask yourself this, which scenario seems more likely based on the situation??
