I'll admit I didn't hear the quote, so I have no context.

It just seemed like they were going out of their way to say there was NEVER a competition, which would seem a little over-the-top if they were just trying to appease some media folk.

But again, only time will tell . . .

I don't know how many of you actually watched Chan Gailey's press conference, but I did and it left me reassured that we have a competent OC who has a plan and sincerely believes he can execute that plan with Geno Smith at QB. He has an idea of the offense he wishes to tailor to fit Geno's skills, and he believes Geno can succeed in that offense. Lastly, he did a careful film study of Geno and found that his decisions and throws are very effective when you give him clean reads, so his job is to give Geno clean reads, and he feels like he can do that.

Like I said geno still needs to show he can grasp the concept. People can believe in you all they want but you still need to perform
