Between Geno and Fitz today...only 1 threw an INT..and guess what, it wasn't Geno.But only 1 threw a TD...that was Geno.
But if Fitz looks better, let him play. I just want the guy who wins games.
Can't wait for TC where the scribes chart every pass, burp and fart. This forum will get interesting.

New York Jets not handing Geno Smith starting QB job
I didn't see this posted anywhere and I thought it was worthy of its own thread.
I guess it's safe to say that Todd Bowles INVITES an open QB competition after all. Trust me, this is the ONLY way. This is the only honest, forthright, and logical manner of determining who our starter is. As I already mentioned, Chan Gailey just APPOINTING Geno as the day 1 starter was complete stupidity. It is the very SAME thing that Rex Ryan did while he was here and it pissed everyone off.
So how can it POSSIBLY be any different when Chan Gailey pulls the same shit?

Geno Smith won't be handed the New York Jets' starting quarterback gig, but it's his job to lose.
Despite offensive coordinator Chan Gailey's pronouncement last week that "right now, Geno is the starter," coach Todd Bowles clarified that there will be a competition come training camp. Gailey: Geno Smith is Week 1 starter
"Come camp time there will be competition at the spot (quarterback)," Bowles said. "I've said it from Day 1, Geno is the first-team quarterback and Ryan (Fitzpatrick) is second, Matt (Simms) is third and we'll give Bryce (Petty) reps as we go. Just like every other position starter starting first team, if he's playing well he's the starter, if he's not playing well and somebody is playing better, as is any other position, somebody else is going to play."
Bowles added: "I view it as open competition with Geno being the starter. It's his to lose and it's Ryan's to take, it's Bryce's to take, it's Matt's to take, no different than any other position. Whoever starts out first team will get the first team reps ... as preseason goes on, as production goes on at practice that could or couldn't change from any position we have."
Fitzpatrick, who suffered a season-ending broken leg last year, participated in team drills for the first time during Wednesday's OTAs.
According to multiple beat reporters attending Wednesday's session, Smith struggled while taking the majority of the first-team reps.
"I've always felt like it was my job to go out and lead this team," Smith said Wednesday, via Newsday.
Smith will start in the pole position for the Jets' starting gig, but his performance on the field will ultimately dictate whether or not he remains there. Performance will also determine whether he keeps it once the season starts if he wins the job.

I would imagine that if Ryan Fitzpatrick gets healthy enough he will be the day 1 starter. Fitz has way more experience and better numbers. The only way I can see Geno winning (and I hope I am wrong) is if Fitz leg does not heal in time for the opener or to make a splash in TC.
If you actually listen to Bowles, he says there will be competition in camp, and it's not Geno's job...yet. Was his exact quote. He says he and Chan are 100% on the same page. He said "another qb will have to take it from him," as in, it's possible if Geno plays poorly for him to lose his job.
I dont think there is any news here. Its Geno's job unless he bombs in the preseason, but he is the #1 QB and will have all #1 QB reps unless he falls on his face. Chan and Bowles honestly said the same thing differently...
