Maybe if they swung at pitches that are right down the middle of the plate. Take some more called third strikes.
A lot of that is idiot Long the idiot hitting. He believes all batters should take as many pitches as possible in order to run up pitch counts

It would be a positive step if they told Collins not to bother catching the bus to the airport for the flight to Hollyweird

Yup. Typical Mets at bat is called strike one. Called strike 2. Then swing at a pitch out of the strike zone for strike 3. Get rid of the whole lot of them - Sandy, Collins, Long. We have the potential for one of the great pitching staffs in the game, but we are wasting it with bad defense and inept offense. Bring in some people who can actually build a team around this great pitching.

Going against Kershaw tonight. Cant wait to see what kind of at bats we get against him.

Going on record now -- 3 hits, 1 walk, 12Ks and we will be shutout. Noah will have 1 of the hits.

Trade Market Notes: Zobrist, Hamels, Tulo, Orioles
By Jeff Todd [July 3, 2015 at 7:06pm CDT]
We’ve already heard that the Mets and Athletics have had discussions regarding the former’s interest in utility man par excellence Ben Zobrist. And New York GM Sandy Alderson has said that he is “prepared to overpay” for the right piece to boost the club’s sagging offense. In a post today, Joel Sherman of the New York Post connected those two stories, reporting that the Mets are specifically willing to offer a premium return for Zobrist. As MLBTR’s Steve Adams explained in the above-linked piece regarding the Mets’ interest, it’s easy to see why that would be the case: he potentially offers a solution at second, third, and/or the corner outfield, all while delivering the type of on-base threat that Alderson prizes. As Sherman goes on to explain, however, in spite of New York’s apparent willingness to go past what it deems fair value for the veteran, Oakland has not made him available. With the team surging in the AL West, A’s GM Billy Beane “has tempered sell-off talks, at least for now,” per the report.

Brilliant negotiating tactic, Sandy. Let everyone know you are really desperate and willing to pay more than market value.

Well, I sure did not see that 2 run, 7 hit offensive outburst coming. Nice to get a win because of another team's inability to field--don't know how they gave Flores on that grounder back to the pitcher, but I am sure he will take the 3 hit night.

With this pitching staff, it seems like all we need is 2 and a win is pretty likely. Nice to see Thor pitch well on the road. He seems to mature a little bit with each outing.

Nice weekend, taking 2 of 3 in LA. Harvey still struggling a bit, very inconsistent coming off of the surgery, but great starts out of Thor and Matz. And it looks like the bats finally got going, hopefully they take them with them to SF--gonna see some tough pitching up there.

Finally stringing together some good at bats -- really seemed to start with the last two innings on Saturday. Wilmer Flores with 10 hits in the LA series, raises his batting average 25 points this weekend. Mats another RBI, and just a lot of good at bats. 8 runs and 15 hits last night - that had been a week worth of hitting for this team. On the other hand, Lucas Duda is 2 for 21 with 12 strikeouts in July, after a bad June.

Another great outing for Niese. Naturally I watched 8 innings and fell asleep before we scored the 3 in the 9th, but happy to see this morning that we pulled it out.

In his last 5 starts, opponents are hitting just .210 against Niese with a 2.57 ERA but just a 2-3 record. If we are going to trade him, do it now. His value may never be higher.

Great outing by DeGrom.

4 wins out of 6 on a road trip against the.tough Giants and Hollyweird Stars.

Didn't think they had a chance after the miserable homestand

Don't forget

Go to mlb.com and vote for Familia. Also join with the Metropoli Twins and vote for Twins candidate in the AL, since Twins fans are stuffing the ballot box for their guy and Familia

Just when I am getting ready to give up on the season they head out west and play well against a couple of good teams. First above .500 road trip on the season. Great outing by DeGrom -- as long as he is not pitching against the Cubs, he seems to be dominant every time out these days. Not sure what this season will bring, but its going to be a blast watching this staff for the next few years.

All we need to be able to do is score 3 or 4 runs a night and we are going to win a lot more than we lose.

And how about 1)that surprise hit and run single by Hair that led to a run and 2) that terrific Willie Mays like catch in the graveyard of right center, 3) the 2 run HR by Campbell breaking the Metsies 400+ ABs without a homer streak and 4) the two hilarious guys in full home plate umpire gear behind home plate making all the calls along with the real arbiter

Didn't see the game -- I hate afternoon games during the workday -- so I didn't see the umpire guys. I followed it on MLB.com and it sounds like it was a great game all around. Now, with Mejia coming back, we have plenty of depth in the pen and in the starting rotation. If Sandy wants to make a move for a bat,, we have the assets to do that.

If Duda and Cuddyer can turn things around and d'Arnaud can come back (and stay back) there is no reason this team cannot make a playoff run in the second half. Although if they drop two out of three this weekend to Arizona, I will probably be right back out on the ledge screaming for everyone's head again. Such is the life of a Met fan.
