Saw Average White Band the other night. Just two original guys, the bassist and the shall we say nicely, less than optimally skilled guitarist.
Good news was that Brent Carter, one of the better Tower of Power ex-vocalists was the lead singer.
All in all not a bad show, kinda like TOP lite. Two saxes vs the 5 piece TOP horns were like the I can't believe it's not butter of horn sections though. Everyone else for the most part were also was just a rung below the boys from the East Bay. I guess when one thinks soul, Oakland comes more to mind than Scotland
So I wonder what this is like for Carter, like a guy who played in the majors but is now stuck in AAA
After this show, for the first time since I was a kid, I don't have any tickets to any future concerts. Seems like music is dead and all we'll get from now on are songs. Sad that.
