Do you folks really think McBride and Wydermeyer will last that long?

Later
nope but for now lets hope
there are reports that McBride could go in the Top 25
which would elevate a team to take Wydermyer in the end of the first round

I wanted to try something different and used my first 3 picks for Coach Saleh and our Defense while building around Quinnen Williams.

Look @ that D-Line.

DE: Aidan Hutchinson.
DT: Quinnen Williams.
DT: Jordan Davis.
DE: Carl Lawson.

I then used my next 6 picks with Zach Wilson in mind and gambled on John Metchie III in the 4th.

Our TE problems are forever solved.

Lindstrom making it into the fourth is...well, humorous, to say the least.

Thoughts on OT (RT) Daniel Faalele?

6'9.
410 lbs.
Monster RT.

And outside of sitting out 2020 due to Covid I don't think he's ever missed an NCAA game due to injury either.

are you new to the forum?
already was high on him about three months ago...
ask anyone, especially @Old#15
but this dude keeps gaining weight he was 380 at the beginning of the season now 418 any bigger and he can be the entire OL
the other player was Darian Kinnard from Kentucky
but I dunno now
there are plenty of prospects that are worth a looksie now with so many players declaring

I think he can play any style. He's that good. And you're right. He'll probably be gone before pick #4 and that's because he's the best OT in all of Football coming out.

Hutchinson.
Kayvon.
Evans.

Who do we pick @ #4?
there are three people outside the top three to consider
OT/OG Ikem Ekwonu
DE David Ojabo
SAF Kyle Hamilton (as long his long term medical checks out)

With two 2nd round picks? I think he could become a gamble worth gambling on?
three months ago I would of said yes but now after him adding 38 pounds over the season makes you think when he gets that money he will eat his way into a grave -- yea yea I know each team has nutritionists to help the players but again can not be there every minute of every day...

Here is a sleeper tackle Nicholas Zakelj from Fordham 6'5" 325 might be someone that his name will climb the boards

I haven't watched many Tennessee games but I always thought he's played RT for them?
Cade Mays Career at Georgia/Tennessee
Cade Mays started his college career at Georgia while most true newcomers need a little seasoning before hitting the college field, Mays was already built like a grizzled veteran. He missed three games with injury but he featured in 11 contests. He made seven starts as a true freshman, including one at left tackle. He was featured as part of the rushing attack that led to the rank of 16th in the nation. He earned Freshman All American honors from the FWAA while being named to SEC All Freshman Team by the conference's coaches.

Cade continued to show his true versatility on the line as a sophomore. He made 11 starts in 14 appearances. He saw most of his time at right guard and took starting reps at right tackle, left tackle and left guard. He even saw meaningful reps as a center against Missouri. He continued to develop into one of the top units in the country. They ranked fifth for sacks allowed and ninth in tackles for loss allowed.

Mays transferred across teh SEC to Tennessee after two seasons in Athens. Mays annoucned he was transferring to Tennessee. Having initially committing there, and which his brother Cooper also an offensive lineman for the Vols. Accusations of a toxic environment were lobbied towards Georgia, and the story of Kevin Mays’ decapitated finger became headline news. Having initially had his eligibility waiver denied, the Bulldogs accused the Mays family of trying to corral the appeal process into overturning the decision.

Mays was cleared to play for the Vols in 2020. The Tennessee native made his debut at right tackle against Missouri before moving inside to guard for the rest of the season. In one of his better performances of the year, he was credited with allowing neither a sack nor penalty against Auburn. Mays could have declared for the 2021 NFL Draft, he opted to return for his senior season. With a new coaching staff and offensive system, the versatile offensive lineman has the opportunity to enhance his stock ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft. While starting at right tackle in his first game of the new campaign, he didn’t allow a sack or penalty.

Chris Olave Areas for Improvement reminds me of Devin Smith
Areas for Improvement
At 6’1″ and 189 pounds, Olave’s game lacks physicality that could present problems for his NFL Draft stock. He doesn’t demonstrate a physicality in downfield blocking. His lack of physicality also shows in contested-catch situations. There are examples of him winning on occasion, but he needs to show improvement in that area of his game this season.

Thank you for that Cade Mays information. He sounds like he's very versatile and can play mostly every position on the O-Line and you're right he seems like he's had most of his experience @ RG (a big position of need/upgrade for us).

If he fell to the 4th round would you consider wanting us to draft him or maybe even in the 3rd round?
he is ranged to go 105 to 118 so yes we can use one of those two fourths to draft him
can replace Dan Feeney as the backup Guard/Center on the team and work with Benton to eventually replace McGovern as starting center for the team

So, he would be in addition to say an Ikem, Penning or Kinnard?

yes
but Ikem, Jaxson or Zion as starting Guard
I think Cade could compete day one as starting center look at Creed Humphrey, Mays has more experience

with the other 4th round pick the Jets could take a flier on the kid from Fordham, legit tackle fits the bill to be a right tackle at this level
then again the Jets could give Cameron Clark a swirl at the right tackle spot but I am still uncertain he is a part of the future for this team

Competitive OL with depth

Becton at Left Tackle
AVT at Left Guard
Mays at Center
Ikem or Zion at Right Guard
Nick Zakelj at Right Tackle

would give us a formidable starting five
while not killing the future cap
allowing us to sign veteran options on short term deals - affordable contracts
Need a line that can block in space
these five with a competent knowledgeable center that has experience at each position
this line would be true nasty ferocious in the run block game
and they all can anchor against bull rush, and stunt against speed rush

IMO JD will take an Offensive Lineman with one of our 1st Rd picks and not take another till the 4th Rd or later. He has too many holes to fill in other places.. It will also depend what he does in FA. IMO Ikem Ekwonu is an ideal fit for the Jets with the 4th overall pick.
