But once being drafted?
that is why they do deep dives into the prospect's character...
off field issues...
on field issues...
leadership qualities...
family involvement...

these kids are vetted on another level...
there are programs the NFL and individual teams have in place...
these kids some have a goal, take care of their families...
some kids want free money...
some kids love the game...

trust me they have enough people to vet these kids and know which ones are real players...

another problem is once they are in the league after the season is over they have their own lives and some are still immature and do stupid stuff like DUI Marcus Maye, Henry Ruggs (who did it in season) but they are people too and should not be treated any different...

It is a privilege to have a driver's license...
It is a privilege to be in the NFL or any Pro Sports...
Some players take advantage of this privilege thinking they are above the law...

Cade York Louisiana State is the best kicker in the nation and will cost a draft pick to get him...

Matt Ammendola needs another leg to compete

Eddy Piñeiro was a band aid but is he really our kicker moving forward and how much is he going to want to stick around

a rookie kicker on a rookie deal 4 years $3.49 M roughly and don't have to worry each year having kicking competitions during the season wondering if we can get someone to replace the next guy...

If I’m drafting a kicker it’s going to be one who played his football in bad weather and the cold . Who do we have that fits that mold

When evaluating kickers, completion percentage is important. But you also want to know if a kicker can come up clutch when needed. York was one of just three college kickers that hit a 50+ yard field goal in the final two minutes of a game last season. Is that clutch enough?

York also holds the program’s field goal distance record. The junior kicker smashed a 57-yard field goal through the fog to give LSU a 37-34 win over Florida. This season, he’s completed 90% of his field-goal attempts, including a 56-yarder. York’s also yet to miss a PAT this year.

Reliable, accurate, clutch, with the leg to boom it from nearly 60 yards, York is the top kicker in the 2022 NFL Draft class.

Gabe Brkic, Oklahoma - HOMETOWN Chardon, Ohio
Having made all of his field-goal attempts in 2019, last season was something of a down year for Gabe Brkic. The Oklahoma kicker hit just 76.9% of his field goals in 2020, and this season he has already missed 3 of 19 attempts.

However, it’s worth looking behind the statistics to discover what Brkic brings to the table as one of the top kickers in the 2022 NFL Draft. In 2020, 6 of his field-goal attempts were from 50+ yards, and he hit 4 of them. This season, Brkic has already nailed a career-long 56-yard attempt. Oh wait, he’s struck from that distance TWICE.

The ability to boom a field goal from downtown to win a game will help separate Brkic as one of the top kickers in the 2022 NFL Draft. Furthermore, he has never missed an extra point.

How about Cam Thomas as our edge . Not just a pass rusher but a total end who can also set the edge against the run .

Can we come away from this coming draft with 3 OLmen, 2 TEs an Edge 2 linebackers and 2 WRs ?
Yes I realized I have 10 picks but what’s even worse is some lunatic has convinced me that we might also need an 11th for a kicker .

Keep in mind that we have a ton of cap space for free agents.
That same lunatic has me convinced that the team will be targeting certain positions in free agency. To that end, I have only 1 edge rusher and no RB on my wish list in a draft loaded at both positions .

PS : took me just a little bit to find where @gmf1369 stashed this .

The big question for draft pick trades will be the QB market - how do the teams that need QBs shake out with (a) free agent QBs and (b) their views of QB prospects. If a couple of teams get excited about a QB prospect, there could be positive trade opportunities

Need QBs

Denver
Washington
New Orleans
Pittsburgh
Carolina

Second tier need QBs - in terms of likelihood they would reach to move up

Atlanta
Detroit

Possible QB trades - Rogers, Wilson, Carr - those could fill slots, but could also open new needs for QB

And then what do these teams think of Howell, Corral, Pickett, Ridder, maybe Willis, maybe Strong

On draft day if a team with QB need is in love with someone, they might be a good trade partner. Very hard to predict who will end up enamored of the right QB to deal on good terms

There are two top 5 QBs in this draft
Kenny Pickett & Matt Corral

the second wave there are late first round hopefuls in
Sam Howell & Carson Strong

Malik Willis might be considered a first but he is more of a project like Desmond Ridder many feel both are second round picks

You can throw the Giants in that mix
I don’t think a New regime wants to start off with Jones .
