Season MVP...so far

hiring casserly & wolf as consultants was the smartest move woody has made as the owner of the jets..

I thought it was genius to hire those guys as consultants. I do remember on whatever board we were posting on at that time there were a lot of haters with them as consultants. Saying they are to old and not in touch with the game anymore. Casserly was terrible in Houston... yada yada yada.... But whatever your take was then, hindsight is 20/20 and it's looking like the smartest thing Woody has done since hiring Parcells.

FITZ and it's not even close... Why? Well he has great chemistry with his OLine, Decker and Marshall but more importantly he has great chemistry with the entire team... The Defense believes in him... He is what a QB needs to be, beyond the numbers, he is a leader. End of story.

He did cite one specific stat he cares about with QB's ... how often they get their team in the end-zone.

Thats the only one he cared about, are you getting us touchdowns, and right now Fitz is tied with Vinny (98) for the most TD Passes in a single season (29) in franchise history. One more in Buffalo and he owns the franchise record.

Pretty special, huh?
yeah well, smith would have done even better with our weapons!!

why?? cause i said so, that's why!!

with all due respect, i don't think you do..

fitzpatrick is the jets MVP & will be voted as such by his teammates.. the end..

Must be catchy, bc you obviously don't get what I'm saying either.

I'm not commenting on whether he'll be NAMED MVP -- I'm simply asking if he deserves it based on the numbers he put up (vs how much better he is than originally expected).

Let's ask Patriot fans, Steeler fans, Packers fans (heck, even Jaguar fans) if they'd like our "MVP QB". Something tells me they'll pass.

Again, that sounds like I'm bashing him, but I'm not. I'm thankful for what he's brought to the table -- I guess I'm just not as blown away as some of you are (especially with the ideal situation he finds himself in) . . .

fitzpatrick has galvanized the team (including petty) & our fan base..

we got a starting QB on pace to throw more TDs in one season than any QB in the history of the franchise & it only cost us a conditional 7th round pick.. oh BTW he's only 33..

& yes, it does absolutely sound like you are passively aggressively bashing fitzpatrick..

I get what you're saying, but seriously -- is he our MVP based on his body of work, or on his improvement over the EXTREMELY low bar we've grown accustomed to?

Here's some rankings I was able to find:

Passer rating -- 20th
Yardage -- 13th
TDs -- 10th
Completion % -- 20th

I'm not bashing the guy -- we'd DEFINITELY not be in the position we find ourselves without the season he's having. But don't you think an "MVP" season would have led to better production? I guess 1/2 the QBs in the league would have been our MVP?

I'm thankful for what the guy has brought to the table, but also looking forward to the day when these numbers are EXPECTED, not lauded . . .

I feel like Fitz played great this year. Stats sometimes are misleading.

I guess you'd have to define "great". I could rattle off 15 QBs that I believe could have done what he did (or better) with the talent we have. Problem is, none of those QBs were on our roster, which is why I'm SO glad Fitz is.

You look at my post history and you'll see I've been in the guy's corner since day one. But I still think people are viewing him through the lens of the CRAP we've had behind center (since Chad) instead of what most teams/fans already expect from that position.

I may not want to anoint him as our savior, but I also promise I won't be one trashing him if he lays an egg in the playoffs. I wonder how many of his current fanboys can say the same . . .

Thank you for proving my point.

We're CAPTIVATED by the guy because he's setting franchise records (and got him dirt cheap). Meanwhile, he's simply having an above-average season compared to the rest of the QBs out there.

TBH I wish I never made my original post. The last thing I want to do is rain on anyone's Fitz-parade. Believe it or not, I'm enjoying it as much as everyone else. I just made the mistake of thinking I could ask an objective question, which was obviously a foolish thought on my part.

I'll try to refrain in the future . . .

Very well could be because we've had crap for years. For that reason we should do whatever it takes to keep him.

How do you explain the career years for Marshall?

My MVP's

-Woody Johnson for finally making the right decision to fire the entire old regime and bring in what we have now.
-Mac for putting this team together and making one of most lopsided trades probably in NFL history in getting Marshall.
-Bowles for overall managing and coaching this team the way a true HC is supposed.
-Chan Gailey for calling the offensive plays that have brought this team to success thus far.
-IK for knocking Geno the fuck out because I honestly don't think Geno is smart enough to pull off what Fitz has done so far.

I'll go back and find the post from August where you thought he was going to be team MVP.

Apology will directly follow . . .

So in your opinion Fitz is the reason Marshall/Decker are having great years, and not the other way around?

I'll respectfully disagree, emphasis on the respectful part (as some are apparently more sensitive than I realized) . . .
