that's the intoxicating thing about the hackenberg pick.. petty is right up there with the most gifted QBs we drafted as well.. hell, we climbed well into the top 10 to draft sanchez & i don't have him being a more "gifted" QB than petty.. & i liked the sanchez pick a lot..
granted, all the gifts in the world mean very little if you can't get it done at the NFL level.. fitzpatrick is by far the least physically gifted QB in camp & he just signed for 12 million guaranteed this season at 33..
BINGO!!!!!
That's it. Projecting what an NCAA QB is going to do in the NFL has to be one of the most difficult tasks in all of sports. So many top ten drafted QB's have gone bust. Tom Brady is certainly, at least, in the conversation for GOAT. He was a back up. His combine photo is a riot. Go figure.
Macc has 2 very talented young QB's. All he needs is for one to hit. If Petty comes into camp next year and lights it up, and Hack goes bust, nobody will be talking about Macc being a bum for wasting a pick on Hack. (Well maybe MJ will :18: Just kidding MJ) He'll be a genius for taking a star in the 4th. Reverse is also true.
IMO the Jets have 2 young QB's who either one could blossom into a star. They have a limited talent wise, but very wily, smart, and is willing to share, veteran, starting QB. That's why the Jets were so insistent that Fitz take a 3 year deal.
Again IMO, the Jets are actually in a good QB situation.................If one of the kids hit
smith's the fly in the ointment. Jets have a veteran, win now team, as much as the Jets would like to jettison smith, he is, right now, the best #2 QB on the team..........Some tough QB decisions coming for Macc
