Why do we get excited on Fitz & Forte

We lose good guys & we get these guys in that are old & were good or just average. We put a crown on Marshall who could explode at any time. We need to do something with Wilk/

We need a great draft this year folks. We need to figure out Wilk. We need returners young Rec's & an OL.

I have said this for years winning teams win & losing teams lose........it's hard to cross that line. the Giants getting snacks is why they win.

The Cardinals are close but they still are a losing team......both teams like the Steelers in the 70's & the Pats in the 90's need to cross that line.

BIG MAC HAS LOTS OF WORK TO DO! In my book we are behind now but this is just the first lap of the race....so I will see how they handle it.

look Macc put in work not only retaining Bilal Powell, but acquiring two additional running backs that will complement the game plan... Forte has something left to prove and will be a nice addition to BP... Khiry on the other hand is known for goal line and short yardage situations... Don't forget the annual salary all three of these players were signed too, none were for the amount annually Ivory received meaning the Jets in 2017 will be awarded a comp pick for Ivory... Also will receive a comp pick for Snacks...

this team has a solid core, getting younger and adding more speed is the goal... Drafting will be the main focus for our off season success... one position we know is now off the table for this year's draft is RB...

maybe I am too optimistic, knowing it is too early to criticize the first few moves knowing we are cap strapped this off season...

Your right. It's the kind of moves they have to make. I like Powell. They need to hit on one of the other two

Not sure what you're getting at, the super bowl isn't won in free agency. We lost players we couldn't afford and signed players who will fit nicely into our system. This year was a shit show for us, mac is doing a better job than any other gm i can remember. If you're expectation is that we should be the steel curtain right now, I'm sorry.

The Jets can never do right in some fans minds. No matter what the cap situation.

This wasn't a FA spending bonanza for the Jets this year. That was last year. Maccagnan needed to spend a lot of money to meet cap requirements set by the league, and fans went bananas because a GM spent like a drunken sailor. The same could be said about the Raiders, Giants, and Jaguars. But championships aren't won in March. Championships are won in the draft, with holes being plugged after the fact. Foundations are built in the draft.

The Raiders and Jags can do their victory dance all night long for all I care. It won't mean anything until I see all these veterans play together and develop chemistry. That's never a foregone conclusion. Some guys get paid and show up out of shape for training camp. I'm willing to bet that a few of these overpaid FA "stars" will disappoint a few teams. How many FA players underplayed their mega deals? The examples are endless.

I think I said what most of you are saying. Being a baseball Cardinals fan I know we don't have the same kind of money the Mets & yanks have to spend. I know the draft is the key I know more than most.

But all I was saying is we lost two good guys. & we got problems like Richardson & Marshall & money bags on the team. For those of you that know me you know that I loved the Richardson pick(based on talent). For those of you that know me you know I love TB. So if any coach can take these problems & fix them he can in my book.

Big mac is the key. He needs to build a team. He needs to get a QB be it the racing driver or someone else. I think I said it is the first lap but do I have faith in Big mac? Not yet I need to see more from him. I loved Ivory but I don't mind him being let go. I just want to see the next guy be a good teammate & produce.

Every team has issues it is how you handle them. A rock group has a singer.... now the spotlight is on Big mac.

look lets not put the nuthouse guy or 100 MPH drug lord or the throw the pass in the crowd kid in the ring of honor. Some of our key people have some big question marks on their backs. Lets hope they are not a one year wonder.

I want the Jets to win as bad as anyone but as of today I am not excited about what we have done. I will say it again as of today. I will say this again it is the first lap of a long race. We needed to cut some cap space again & we did....so be it.

Ok one last thing people that know me know I am not in a hurry..... But if we think we can win now Lets get a QB. When we got Namath we had to earn him & we had to overpay him.

Two years ago the cardinals had no SS they never overpay for players (King Albert). But they did one time for JP. We would have never been in the playoffs without him. Great GM's make great moves. I want to see big mac be that great GM

Anyway lets pray for a great draft not just a good one. We need it.

Forte is over 30 and his production dropped off. Chris Ivory is 27. I think we downgraded. Hopefully Powell can pick up the slack.

You do realize there is a salary cap in the NFL don't you? It's not just a matter of "go get so and so!"

Which was basically what I was saying.

It seems like fans think it's simply a matter of "don't let that player go", when the process doesn't work that way. Maccagnan would've been a fool to pay Ivory or Snacks the money they got (not to mention it would've been impossible to do, with our limited cap space). And Im a little confused about criticism regarding Brandon Marshall. He didn't act up last season. He wasn't a distraction. He simply exploded in our offense and had a fantastic year.

Some people are never happy. Marshall was great all year. He was one of the leaders of this team....

Simple, because we saw what kind of excitment the '98 season caused, propelling us to be a successful franchise for the subsequent years. Having vertaran leadership to help groom the young players on the squad.

Ditto for this era. Fitz not only helps this team be competent in games, but also helps the maturation of Bryce Petty on how to handle life as an NFL QB.

Forte is a player who is hungry , such as Marshall and all thes players that know what their in for in the locker room. Their presence is felt to what kind of environment it takes to succeed. Again, it helps the inexpereinced players grow into football manhood, not the chaos that was well documented in the rex era.

OK first of all, we put a crown on Marshall because he deserved it. Dude was our best player last year and played beyond anyone's expectations. As for the Giants winning because they overpaid for a 2 down player? They haven't been winning recently (4 straight losing seasons) and the reason they won the past decade was because of a very good head coach, a franchise QB, a good D-line and clutch play by their wideouts. Signing Snacks will have jack-all to do with any winning they may do in the future.

Lastly, the 70's Steelers drafted better than any team in history. They hit on an abnormal amount of picks.

No such guarantees.
Forte was expensive enough that he'll offset the loss of Snacks to some extent because C-Picks are not a straight-line dollar-for-dollar calculation - if Forte turns out to be the most expensive UFA the Jets sign.
They are decided based the highest paid loss offset by the highest paid acquisition, even if the signed salary amount differences are YUGE.
Ergo: Smacks and Forte cancel each other out - for now.
Ultimately, the awarding of C-Picks is based on having a net LOSS of UFAs.
If you sign more (numerically) than you lose, yer toast - no joy for you.

I agree in part...It can do those things but how do we know that petty is being helped by Fitz in the right way Like Warner helped Manning a few years back. It sounds good on paper but how do we know?

they have not won in four years...there are 32 teams so in a perfect world you win a SB every 32 years I would say they are ahead of the curve......must come from a Yankee fan LOL

As far as the steelers drafting better Ok that's the reason proves my point but they continue to draft better for 40 years. LOL

Same with the Giants the reason they had all that is they are winners....now that can change but as of today they are winners

Good points!

I just don't see how people rate players on the Jets at times. But that being said it looks like Fitz rates himself better than any jet fan does LOL.
