Aaron Rodgers

Actually we want more than halfway
I agree but we can’t expect much more from Aaron Rodgers! Unless the team carries him to an excellent season, I don’t think he has a mentality and character to be a leader and carry the team himself. Plus, he hasn’t displayed that skill set at this point to be able to carry a team to true success. So I see a decent season at most if they bring this guy back.

Hey, I said if one of the top guys fall, I didn't say they'd be good.
:rose4u:

We do need a right tackle, but would you normally take that guy at #7? It would be good to trade down to do that, but it never seems to happen. And we could do with a solid DT to set Q free again.

Actually, that post was not aimed at you, but now that you posted I can see where you might think it was. I'm just trying to prepare our gang for what I believe is going to unfold this off season. Would I take a RT with the #7 pick ? Normally, no, but as important as it is to shore up that position on our struggling offense if we could get the right guy, yes I would. I also agree that a solid DT would be a good add. For me............any position of need, except QB. if they want to add a developmental QB in the later rounds I'm good with that.

What I was actually thinking is that if we take an OT at #7 he is going to want to be LT, which commands more money. Remember Becton 'I am a left tackle'? Your RT is more of a mauler and Olu got manhandled when he played there earlier in the season. So you would expect to take a guy in the middle of the first round or later. I'm an OL guy, I always want to 'build the wall'.

As for the 'developmental QB', that is Travis if he is fit. If we draft Beck/Dart/Ewers as well, we will have nowhere on the roster to hide them from other franchises with a QB injury problem.

Yep, me too. As it happens there are a couple of good RTs in the draft and most of the tackles coming to the nfl from college would prefer playing, at least in the beginning at the position they are more comfortable with even though as you point out LT pays better. The pay scale isn't as much of a concern for a kid coming out of college playing on a rookie contract. Hell, I'd be happy as the water boy if I made what they will make to start their career. You are also correct about Travis already being our developmental guy but we haven't a clue where that stands at this point. That will be something that will almost certainly be addressed before the draft.

The more reports prove these guys have absolutely no idea what’s goin to happen :

Aaron Rodgers staying with Jets in 2025 suddenly seems more likely

Surely Glenn has a plan B.
Here’s the problem with all of this, Aaron Rodgers stats this year is probably the best ever or in the top 2-3 of any Jets QB ever. With that said, they still should not bring him back because it did not lead to wins. All it lead to was drama, BS and a 5-12 record this season. On the other side, it’s pretty clear that Arod has no more clot and leverage with the team.

So if this truly the case, especially with this new regime and Woody Johnson, you can’t expect sorta understand why they might want to run it back with Rodgers for one more year. He’ll have to confirm and do it their way and I guess they’re thinking he can do that and play that role. I don’t trust it and I still say cut bait and move on but our opinion means shit to them anyway, so why bother!

"Arod has no more clot". Has Hackett been canned and I missed it?

I curious about who you have in mind to replace him.

Can’t say that I have any free agent to replace him but we still do have Tyrod Taylor. He obviously isn’t as good skill wise but he isn’t far off at this point. Plus his attitude and leadership value is leaps and bounds better.

First off let me say that I like Tyrod. He's a decent QB,..........but......in 14 seasons he has only started more than 6 games 3 times. The last time was in 2018. So who takes over after game 6 ? The rookie Jordan Travis who we have never seen play a single snap in the NFL ? Travis might eventually be our franchise QB but not likely to happen in 2025. There is absolutely nobody going to be available in free agency who is definitely better than Aaron Rogers. Younger, yes, better, no. All of the QBs in this upcoming draft are huge gambles. Historically the Jets have had terrible luck with their 1st round pick QBs and I think that will have some bearing on what they do at the QB position. I'd be the first to admit that Rogers has not worked out they way we had hoped and neither have his buddies Lazard and Hackett. Adams has been good. What I am saying here is that the new HC and GM are in a tough spot as far as the QB position. They simply don't have a lot of options.

You’re correct and I can’t debate or argue that at all. That’s why I’m not putting up much of a fight at all with this. I don’t want Arod back AT ALL but I know there isn’t any better out there. I would just be hoping on a prayer here, I will admit that!

There in a tough spot as soon as they deal with Woody......or his kids
