I had enough of the drama and Fitz. As much as I do not want Geno to be the QB, I am ready to roll with him and take whatever he brings. In looking back at last year, IMHO Fitz benefited from his WR and very weak schedule more than he did from his capabilities.
any idea why he has so much support from the organization & his teammates?? is he just that fun to be around or do they dread the alternative??

Hey, let's not use logic here.
Not to mention guys on here say he's a bum worth 4 mill, yet the Jets already offered a12 mill first year with ltbe's worth 15 million.

If the wrs made Fitz so good, why didn't geno take back the starting job when he was healthy and Fitz tore his thumb?

Geno practiced with the same offense last year.

1) Quick release, 2) knowledge of system, 3) 10-6 record, 4) great teammate.... 5) Probably dread the alternative because all reports is that Geno is not Fitz as far as communicating. Just my opinion.

Fitz benefited from his WR's and one of the easiest schedules I have seen win a long time and one of the warmest winters in the NE in a long time. Geno would too. Fitz is better than Geno and that is not in question. What Fitz is worth and if he is worth waiting for is the question.

you know i'm a fitzpatrick supporter but at some point very soon this song & dance must come to an end..

if he doesn't re-sign by the start of training camp i don't think there's any question the jets would have to set deadline & stick to it..

saw a recent photo of fitzpatrick yesterday & frankly he looked like he had a gut.. not the end of the world (there's enough time before week one to fix that) but was not happy to see that.. if i find the photo, i'll post it..

I'm not going to proclaim that Geno Smith all of a sudden 'gets it', but what can't be overlooked, is the significant improvement in the weapons Geno has at his disposal. That was brought out in the article.I think we have to take a wait and see approach as to whether a year on the bench has helped in his maturation process, but , for me personally , I'm cautiously optimistic that with all thing considered, Geno can only be a better QB that what he has shown in the past, and Fitz did fail us in the playoffs.

The Jets have accelerated their efforts to try to get Fitz signed by the end of the week. I think it's highly possible he's resigned by the end of the week.

There is a minor possibility that one or two folks on this board may not agree with this article
there is a minor possibility bowles & maccagnan may not agree with this article either..

good, bad, right or wrong the two of them have been trying re-sign fitzpatrick for months & give him back the starting job..

then, of course, this regime has spent a 4th & a 2nd at the QB position two years running..

all of the above with smith in the last year of his rookie contract.....

it would seem bowles & maccagnan have found out all they wish to know about smith, much like one or two folks on this board.. but what the hell do i know..

Agreed, you can write a story to make any point you want, and often those stories are successful with people who don't remember the past.

But the ultimate tell is that geno is in his final year, and doesn't have any contract leverage. This would be a simple low salary backup extension for the Jets, if they predicted he was ready to make the jump.

If the Jets had confidence in geno, they wouldn't need Fitz.

Jets have given Ryan Fitzpatrick multiple contract offers to choose from

The latest wrinkle in the painstaking attempt to reunite the Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick has a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure theme that might put an end to this six-month impasse.

The Daily News has learned that the Jets have given the veteran quarterback multiple offers with the hope of bringing back their undisputed leader from a year ago before the start of training camp this week.

The Jets' three-year, $24 million offer (which is below market value but includes $15 million in guarantees) has dominated the conversation for the better part of two months, but the organization has presented at least one other option for Fitzpatrick, whose franchise-record 31 touchdowns helped Todd Bowles to 10 wins in his rookie season.

It stands to reason that Fitzpatrick isn't thrilled with any of the offers laid out by the Jets' brain trust given that he's still unsigned.

Geno had those weapons last year. When Fitz was rehabbing his broken leg, geno was named the starter. Once Fitz stepped in, geno played with those weapons in Oakland. The Jets decided Fitz with a cast on his hand, gave them a better chance of winning with those "weapons", than geno.
