Well, that's done. The team needs to free up a little bit of money to complete the deal.

Great news!!
Even better news is that I think we found our GM. He has won every battle so far. Played his cards right in the Mo situation and in this situation. It seems like the media has been grasping at straws every damn time with the "far apart" comments. That same comment was made earlier today. Glad they were wrong.

So... What happens now!
4 QBs? Smith the odd man out?

I'm not sure I would count this as a win for Maccagnan. The previous deals have been.
But this one? The Jets did not want to give Fitz a one-year deal at $12MM, though Fitz said he would be willing to accept that deal. Fitz held to his position, Jets moved to him.
Could be. They might be blowing smoke regarding their feelings about him.
But right now, Geno Smith is a better option than Bryce Petty. For the short term anyway. It'll be an interesting cut, if they do go with three.
Team was against a one year because they wanted to spread out the cap hit and avoid doing this all over again next year. They were speaking out of both sides of their mouths.Sack, I apologize and you are absolutely right. I was thinking the roles were reversed. In either case, glad this ordeal is behind the team. Not sure why the team did not want to give him a one year deal. It's a prove it deal. Next year we have more money so if he plays well, we actually can afford him. If not, we can move on.
I thought the only reason they did not want to sign Fitz for $12M this year was due to their cap space?
I'm fine with the deal. Glad we have him, it sounds like all the players were desperate to get him back so this will go a long way in the locker room. The only downside I see, is that now we're likely going to carry four QB's on the roster which means we're skimping somewhere else.
Part of me also wishes we could see Geno play with the better talent.
In Mac we trust!
