I'm sorry, but it's truly sad how many of you think we "can't" (or at least "shouldn't") have a politics forum. Who cares if it gets ugly? That's called life. You learn which situations you can handle and which you need to walk away from. The idea that people are incapable of having differing opinions is ridiculous -- then we better not allow any threads about Geno, or Rex, or anything else Jet-related that is bound to cause dispute.

It's amazing how many people that think we shouldn't have it were found commenting in the thread. Isn't that counterproductive?

Personally I don't comment much, but I still like hearing the back and forth of differing opinions -- just like what happens in the majority of Jets threads.

If you end up banning it, fine. But the idea that it makes a site BETTER is foolish -- all it does is show a lack of faith in the exact people who keep the site alive . . .

My biggest concern is that people's hate for someone's political ideology will spill into other threads unrelated to politics which will make the life of the mods difficult. If they think they can manage everything then I am okay. I just don't like the ugliness....

really don't understand why a political thread is remaining on the main jets football board. if people want to discuss politics, it should be on a dedicated board. we had one on the old scout site, although it became a ghost town. the mets scout board has one, and while it can get heated, it doesn't seem to seep into the main mets board. i'd suggest following that model if people wish to engage in political discussion.

I agree if there will be any politics, it should be on a separate section of the board. This thread went on a different route than what it originally was intended for. I'm okay for light hearted stuff being on the main board like those fun facts but this should be off. I will speak with renegade for him to move this thread.

We have talked about a separate forum for politics. I'm still up for that.

There have been things said here I've found unpalatable, so I'd prefer not to see it here. If we set up a politics forum here, it should be largely unmoderated, as the mods shouldn't have to wade through some of that stuff.

What offends some, does not offend others. The problem with Politics is people only want to believe, what they want to believe in. I for one am for taking down this site as it will get heated and probably carry onto another site.

This is supposed, in theory at least, be a football forum. Arguing about Jets players, or coaches, is why it's here. If people want to talk about why successful people should be punished, here's the forum.

Maybe you can send a special invite to Jungle Shift Jet and a few of the other worst posters at Ragu's Rat hole to come over and call other other posters and public figures commies, fascists, traitors and nazis to add to the post count

Just showing you the lack of logic in your previous post. If it's supposed to strictly be a Jet-related forum then why allow non-Jet discussion? And if you do allow it, why limit it to "safe" topics when we already saw the Happy Holidays Easter thread go down the tubes?
