Guys our D is stacked. I bet we're going to read 4 and 5 INTs a practice. HYATT had an awesome write up on another thread about this defensive's potential. I do think it can be the best defense in the league. Bowles has a dream team of CBs where Milliner and McDougle are #4 and #5 if finally healthy. McDougle looking better and better and showing the team leader skills that he was so recognized for at maryland is very positive. He and Milliner will be good on teams with Devin Smith as an improved gunner (our Sps sucked last year). Add our 4 dlinemen being all world. We have Geno, Petty, and Fitz at QB. We're going to read about 4-5 picks a practice. Their throwing against Cromartie, Skrine, Milliner, McDougle, Gilchrist, Pryor, an improved Milez, and some guy named Revis....our secondary is stacked if they stay healthy. There are a lot of bad secondaries in the NFL that could use a healthy Milliner and McDougle. It would be nice to see them play 16 games.

If anyone should be scared about losing their job to McDougle, it's Milliner, not Skrine... :)
Milliner has to get a job before he can lose one :)

Right now I see Milliner as a backup CB to Revis and Crow, but I'm not sure if he's a Nickel or Dime. I actually liked your idea of moving Milliner to FS, or at least we should see if he can play both spots (CB & FS), you like that kind of versatility from a backup.

Supe, I agree that this defense has the potential to be awesome, the best in the league.

I look at the talent on this defense and to steal a phrase from Victor Espinoza, I'm like ... WHOLLY SH*T!!

Last year the D-line was terrific, but the secondary was awful, now the backend might be better than the line, and I'm saying that after we added Leonard Williams to the D-line!

Too me Coples and Mauldin are the keys. I already know what we're getting everywhere else and its ridiculous, but if Coples raises his game to meet his talent and physical attributes, and if Mauldin is more the guy I saw two years ago (potential first round edge rusher) and not this year, this has the potential to be the kind of defense that scares the sh*t out of offenses, and its not easy for pros to scare other pros, it takes an especially ferocious defense to scare offenses, like the Steel Curtain, 85 Bears, 2000 Ravens and 2014 Seahawks.

I'm comfortable that if Todd Bowles is truly all about the best player playing, Ryan Fitzpatrick will surely win the QB competition. It is very early, but Geno is the same stupid A$$ he's always been. Meanwhile, Fitz is claiming he'll be ready to compete at full go for TC. He's clearly the better QB based on the numbers, he has far more experience, and even at this early juncture he's already making Geno look inferior.

Of course that doesn't take much.

Your assessment is after one OTA against our defense..I question your football acumen....

So after one minicamp practice I would like to salute just sbout all the great posters and mods here at JFU for reporting the facts and not jumping off bridges with overreactions and ridiculous ravings

And why is that? How does that fit your love of the Jets? We have two QB's one of which has played well and Geno who has stunk up the joint. But somehow it isn't real because Geno faced the Jet vaunted defense?

So what defense did Ryan Fitzpatrick face? Did he face his old college defense at Harvard?

What's frustrating for me is that won't know anything about the one group that is most critical for this team's success until the hitting starts. All of this other stuff, in the words of TB is touch football, and not really a great indicator of how things will play out in the fall. Don't get me wrong I love reading about guys like DM (Cinnamon Badger) flying around making plays or Williams showing every indication of being the real deal, but I'm holding back any predictions until the bullets really start flying. Regardless of who is QBing this team, the defense is going to make them look pedestrian. They're going to make all-pros look pedestrian, so I'm not ready to throw in the towel on any of the QBs yet. Back to where I started, the OL is the biggest question mark going into the season, and will be instrumental in the success or failure of the offense. I'm really looking forward to reading in August stories of how guys like Carpenter, Oday, Dozier and Harrison are faring against the Jets front 7. Those are the battles that will be interesting to read about.

Another positive post of offseason workouts from Scout blogger:

"Shaq Evans flashed at times during New York’s set of OTAs and had another nice practice on Tuesday. Last year’s fourth-round pick made a nice grab on a sideline and another solid catch down the seam on a pass from quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Evans is one of several receivers presently fighting for one of two, potentially three, roster spots behind Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker, Devin Smith and Jeremy Kerley."

Good to see the young man getting some traction, particularly after a frustrating rookie season.

We have a lot of talented players fighting for 2 or 3 spots at WR, who wins those spots will have had to earn it with some great play, which is how it is supposed to be

If Marshall, Decker, Kerley, and Smith are safe, that leaves 8 guys fights for 2 or 3 spots

Evans, Enunwa, Posey, Powell, Owusu, Hakim, Graham, Rumph

Pick 2 or 3 guys out of that group to keep and 5 or 6 to cut, it's not easy

Rooting for Owusu. I think he can return kicks and punts and showed flashes at WR

Owusu is a kick returner. Never returned punts in either the NFL or at Stanford. On the other hand, Evans was a punt returner at UCLA who never returned kicks. It would be nice to have a guy who could do both.

After the top 4 guys, I am guessing Posey will have a leg up -- since Mac know him from his days in Houston and traded for him on draft day. 6th spot I expect to come down to Owusu/Evans. Expect Enunwa & maybe Rumph on PS and Hakim & Graham to be out of the mix.

As a Georgia grad, Rumph is the guy I will be rooting for -- huge longshot, but I am hoping he can at least find a spot on the practice squad.

Got my MBA at UGA in 92. Undergrad was Penn -- went from the Ivy League to the SEC. When I am talking business, I am a Wharton grad, but when I am talking football, the Dawgs always come first.

Did you ever eat at Rocky's Pizza, see a show at the GA Theater, or drink a beer at The Globe?

Nice getting into Penn. My ex-wife was accepted into Penn but didnt go because we moved to MD. She went to Towson instead while working for the military as a civilian employee. Penn is an amazing school...one of the only nice things in the Philly area. :) Well, King of Prussia is nice, the Poconos arent bad, and I shouldnt talk bad on Nova, tomato pies, or cheese steaks...but not my area for sure. ;)

By the time I was in Athens, I was married and my son was born while I was in school -- so I didn't exactly have the typical student experience. I honestly don't remember Rocky's Pizza. The Globe sounds familiar -- probably made it there a couple of times and never saw any shows at the Georgia theater.
