what we do know is the new regime traded for fitz, drafted petty & smith was already here..i'm quite pessimistic on geno, but i don't necessarily agree with you here. i think this shows it is geno's last chance. put up this year or hit the road jack. petty is a long-term project and provides great hope for the future. but i don't think a 4th round project QB signals they are done with geno.
last chance for mary jane
I loved this pick. How long has it been since we had a GM who could pick quality players after the 2nd Rd?
BRyce answers questions. You can tell right off the bat, the KID WANTS TO SHOWCASE HIS TALENT!
Great character..

Maine with the defense alone we have 2-3 extra wins i could see fitzpatrick guiding us to 10-6
MJ I think we'll be in competition for a wildcard spot despite our QBs sucking. This team is too good elsewhere to not be in it until the final weeks of the season. We do play in a difficult division but the rest of the schedule is weak. My only concern is that we are weak on the oline.
I think that is what we address next year and we could be on our way. Mac has done a great job on paper, let's hope it pans out
As excited as I am about Petty being drafted, I still can't see Fitz beating out Geno next season. Geno is not going to roll over and hand the job to Fitz. The real competition will begin in the 2016 season after Petty sits and learns this year, the real battle will be Geno & Petty.
Go Jets...Cyborg

We all hope for Petty to be "the answer" as much as Geno or FITZ....we want the Jets to win..but in all honesty Petty could have been long gone before that pick..and maybe the Jets would have taken Shane Carden..or Bennett..or whoever..and the same thing would have been said about the other guys...Petty has some skill..but isn't that big....and will need A LOT of time to turn into anything..even if he does or can
but don't act like the Jets were "targeting this guy, or laying in the weeds for the right time..."
6'3" 229 lbs sounds decent sized.
Smith doesn't actually have to roll over or do anything BUT be himself for Ryan Fitzpatrick to win the job like American Pharoah won yesterday's race in LouisvilleAs excited as I am about Petty being drafted, I still can't see Fitz beating out Geno next season. Anyone complaining about first round pick clearly knows nothing about football....or are cluless.....
I can't see it. You can talk about it all you would like, but I still cannot see it. Whatever good the defense does for us will be OVER nullified by the equally bad play of our QB's. Certainly, if Geno is our starter, we don't have a prayer in hell of even going 8-8. Geno is so GD careless with the ball. I've really never seen anything like it.
I also really do not believe that Fitz makes us much better. Everywhere this guy has gone he has ultimately failed because he cannot protect the football. I compare Geno and Fitz to Neil O'Donnell. Like Parcells said back in 1997, "He could not see the Jets ever being any better than 8-8 or 9-7 with Neil O'Donnell at QB".
I believe that wisdom is true with the 2015 Jets but slightly moreso.
I hope I am wrong, but I can guarantee you Geno Smith will ruin ANY designs the Jets players have on making the playoffs in 2015 if he's the starter.
