I have lived in central Massachusetts for more than a decade, and am moving to Connecticut later this month. I've experienced all you have.

The truth is, Brady won't be around forever. And Belichick won't stick around long without Brady, because if Brady retired and the Pats became mediocre, it would prove that the team's success is all due to Brady, not Belichick. So once Brady is gone, I think they will regress to the mean.

The problem is, most Pats fans are only casual football fans when they aren't winning. The Pats used to be what you did to kill time between the Sox being eliminated and pitchers and catchers reporting. Pats fans don't realize that this is special, and that it won't last forever.

If you live in Mass then you do feel my pain. I'm afraid when brady leaves there wont be that big of a drop off. Remember the Cassel year? 11-5. Cassel had bettrer stats then brady did the year he returned. Brady has always had way too much time to throw. thats what has made him great. he has rarely been hit outside of the 2 Giants superbowls and a little this year.

belichick cheats and it isn't going to stop. they are slowly rewriting the rule book to stop him but they can't do that forever. he will do anything it takes to win and probably spends more time at finding ways to bend the rules or outright cheat then anyone.

if they can't fix the oline and brady leaves then things will change but until that happens I'm not holding out hope

I really thought, going into the season, the Jets would be about a 9 win team, 10 if everything broke right.

Maybe I just have tempered expectations, especially coming off a 4-12 year, and with a new, rookie HC, new, rookie GM, and a new QB. Perhaps I was selling them short, and didn't expect 11 or 12 wins.

Since I didn't expect the Jets to be 12-4 or 11-5, I can't exactly complain that they met, and even slightly exceeded, my expectations.

You're right, the Raiders loss and both to the Bills were tough. But what if they lost the Giants game, or the Pats? For all the close or heartbreaking losses, they had close and euphoric wins. All those things even out over the course of a season, which is why you are exactly what your record says you are.

And the Jets are a 10-6 team.

I probably didn't really expect 12 wins either but given the amount of money spent and the quality of players I did expect 10. Usually a new regime ignites the team above expectations. Bowles is actually the first Jet coach in a while to not go to the playoffs in his first year. and again the schedule was very friendly. Had we won the first cheater game, which we should have , I think things might have been different. Losing to them sparked a 4 out of 5 losing streak

Where you moving in Ct.? I could use some help battling those cheater fans

The Cassel situation was different, because the team around Brady/Cassel was better. Now, Brady assumes a big chunk of the cap with his contract, and the team around him isn't that great. Weaker OL, a secondary that let much of its talent walk in FA.

It's easy to buy into the Pats hype, because Pats fans are convinced they are going to be an 11-12 win team forever. It's part of their propaganda.

I keep thinking that every year but they keep finding ways to win at least 12 games. Hopefully it does happen soon. I would like to beat brady before he leaves though. I mean, win the division over him and of course go on to the superbowl. No way we can ever even the score or even come close since they have been kicking our ass for 15 years

we beat them this year. before that what were we 6-22 against them. I think. they had beaten us 9-11. Just the odds said we had to beat them sometime.

You may want to rethink that Brady made 14 million this year, 15 next year and if he's still around 17 in 2017..

It is arbitrary.

The problem I have is that a significant portion of Jets fans tend to be crybabies. I love the team, but not so much portions of the fan base.

If they surprise everyone and make the playoffs, but lose first round, SOJF cry that they always disappoint in the playoffs. If they win a game or two but lose in the conference title game (Rex's first two years), SOJF cry that they never make the big game. If they win the AFC title and lose the Super Bowl, SOJF cry that nothing matters but winning it all, and all they are is first losers who hurt their draft status.

Playoffs aren't a barometer, because Jets fans would simply move the goalposts and increase their expectations. Nothing short of winning the SB would make for a "good" Jets season, as this thread demonstrates.
melodramatic much??

winning the 2nd super bowl in franchise history wouldn't be good, it would be the greatest moment as a sports fan ever for me.. i suspect others here would agree..

i'm missing the bitching & moaning you went to great lengths to describe (in this post) in this thread sack??

I have seen a few posters on here say that the only good season is one in which you win the Super Bowl.

I'm not being melodramatic, and I'm not making it up. It was said.

actually, as you well know, i've been right smack in the middle of this thread since it started, & this thread has gone viral..

one poster by my count was "super bowl or bust.."

that's why i think your being melodramatic..

again, the jets winning their 2nd super bowl would be the greatest moment as a sports fan for me.. where whould it be for you??

edit; baseball was my first love, sports wise as a kid & I have loved each & every yankee world series win i've been fortunate enough to have followed..

but it wouldn't trump another jets super bowl for me.. this from a grown ass man..

This makes no sense at all. In 2009 and 2010 fans were let down that the Jets did not make the big game, but they were also VERY proud of the teams accomplishments. As I recall, specifically speaking with Green Jets & Ham on Jetsinsider right after the 2010 AFC Championship, we were both commenting on how the team just needed a guy that could simply beat the guy in front of him. That was the only thing keeping us from winning it all. We were all very proud of the team and quite confident we as fans could hold our heads up high. It was a VERY good time to be a Jets fan.

So complaining about constant crybabies is jibberish, or maybe you were just talking with a few whiny babies that were not statistically representative of the fan base. My belief is your willing to say anything just to try and prove a point that simply does not hold water.

Getting back to the thread topic

Head Coach Dumbass, after hiring his fat dumb twin Bro has now added Ed Reed to his coaching circus.

Has he fired any of the lazy halfwits that followed him to Siberia after ruining the Jets for 6 seasons?

I'm over Rex Ryan. If we build on what we accomplished this season then he will end the season behind us.

It would probably be second for me, next to the 1994 Stanley Cup.

So fans were "VERY proud" of the 2009 team that went 9-7 in Rex's first year, but under Bowles in 2015, going 10-6 was (you fill in the blank).
