With all that said, if you could guarantee me Duke Johnson is there in round 3 then it's DGB in a heartbeat.

1) Beasley
2) DGB
3) Duke Johnson

Ya, it goes that way and we won the draft. This boy would be doing some cartwheels.

100% agree

A RB is dependent on a good OL.

A WR is dependent on a good QB.

I'm taking Gurley 10 out of 10 times . . .

But a great RB will suck behind a bad OL

a great WR can make catches other WR cant and can make a mediocre QB look better...put Stafford on any other team..would he be as good w o MEGATRON ?? Doubt it

and personally even if BOTH there I would pass on both most likely

This was an awesome breakdown ...
Indeed it was an I tip my cap to Pdex as well. He really understands the upside to drafting a Great RB compared to a project at WR like DGB. He's right, DGB is a long ways away from truly grasping his responsibilities in an NFL passing game, whereas Gurley can step right in and DOMINATE as a feature back on day one. Not just play, but DOMINATE if he's the back I and many others think he is. Reason being, there is no real learning curve at the RB position and there never has been. NFL history is replete with Great RB's coming into the league and dominating from day one, first because its mostly a react/instinctive position and you either have those skills or you don't, its not something you need to learn or even can learn. As the old saying goes; "Great RB's are born and not made."

Pdex completely understands that and he articulated as well as it can be articulated, and I commend him for it.

What do you think about the devil's advocate side that runningbacks are a dime a dozen, 6'6 230 lbs WRs are a rare breed and redzone nightmare that would seem to be coming into a perfect mentoring opportunity with Decker and Marshall who are also big WRs that likely had to make similar challenging transitions from their college systems to the complexities of NFL offenses?

It really wouldn't shock me if DGB got very little run next year for whatever team drafts him. I think his routes will be a bit sloppy and I think he might drive his coach nuts learning the offense. If you can't be counted to run the right routes, in a league where timing throws are everything, you can't be on the field. He might be two years away from contributing anything at all. The upside is definitely there though and I don't believe he will be a discipline issue. So he's a guy that you can build the future with, just not maybe the immediate "now".

On the other hand, yes RB's can be a dime a dozen. But I would argue that when you have an elite one (Marshawn Lynch) they still have a tremendous impact in today's NFL. Anything but a dime a dozen with what Lynch brings to the table. Gurley is going to be the equivalent of a bright shooting star in the NFL. He will burn brilliantly bright but it will be over quick. I say his window as a dominant player in the NFL will be about 3 years. Of course, on yet the other hand, there is also no shortage of great WR's entering the league either, most of which 6'2 or bigger.

Like most said in this thread, it's a tough call. But if we can figure out the QB, with our defense and Decker and Marshall and Jace, add in Gurley, and yes we are making a super bowl run over the next 3 years. Not out of the question. Gurley can be that Marshawn Lynch quality x-factor. But finding that QB is a huge "if" right now.

If its Dorial Green-Beckham (WR) ..... how do we make sure the press does not turn him into the 2015 version of Stephen Hill ....

That will be up to DGB and I think he can shut them up with one preseason

If Gurley is healthy he can come in and start from day one.
I'd be ecstatic if we chose him with our 2nd pick.
He has a rare combination of speed and power; he is very difficult to tackle and has nice vision.

Will Gurley be having any type of workout/Pro Day before the Draft? I'm curious if he is somewhat healthy enough to show straight line speed before May 1? No cuts or anything like that just straight line speed and a few receiving drills to check out his hands.

He probably won't risk it... kind of forget when injury happened. If he's anything like AP he'll be ready for camp!! Amazing what AP did coming back from that injury!

Gurley didn't participate at the UGA pro day.
He is still rehabbing his knee.
I'm not sure how far along his rehab he has come; athletes (and their agents) can be very secretive about their rehab progress.
He has said he plans to be fully ready to play by July.

I've watched enough Georgia football to know this guy is a beast of a running back.
As I've stated previously if healthy he can carry the load for any NFL team and contribute right away.
I wouldn't draft him in the first round but if available in the second round I'd take him without hesitation.

He's also rehabbing with Dr. Andrews. Teams can easily track his recovery, they all work with him (Dr. Andrews). At the request of Dr. Andrews, Gurley is not allowed to meet with team medical staffs currently (because Dr. Andrews does not want 32 doctors poking and prodding his client). At the combine Gurley and his agent referred to the advice Dr. Andrews gave him that all medical inquiries go through him (he even informed combine staff of this request). I am sure teams are fully aware of where his rehab stands; reports are, he's doing so well teams expect Gurley to go rd 1...but those reports could be true or false. Hard to tell. I dont think its a concern in today's NFL.

On the other hand, Clowney's microfracture surgery is an issue...teams must know from Andrews medical records Gurley's injury is not a microfracture, or he'd fall like Da'Quan Bowers did a few years ago.

Thanks for the info 55.
I'm hoping Gurley is fully recovered before the start of the season.
I like Ivory but he gets banged up a lot due to his physical running style.
In today's NFL its a real luxury to have two work horses that can carry the load.
I strongly believe Gurley would be our starter if healthy.

As for Green-Beckham I honestly haven't seen him play live much.
I can only go off what I see on highlight videos and what his combine / college stats say.
And I've read about his numerous off the filed issues.
Gurley also had an autograph issue his Freshman year but this seems very minor when compared to Green-Beckham's issues.

I've seen Gurley play countless times and know the type of player we would be getting on draft day.
