Let's be honest - who actually saw Becton playing 17 games? A viable backup option was and has been needed all along. It hasn't felt right since they went CB and not T with first pick...and from that moment on the 2022 season was counting on damaged goods to hold up. No time to cry about the draft - Jets needed far more than just one position so some patience is still needed here........................BUT...........they cannot put the franchise QB in jeopardy with the likes of McDermott and Edoga..........they will acquire someone......it's only a matter of who and for how much to pay in both money and talent/draft pick(s).

So I ask - who are the most available candidates from both FA and another roster?

I’m not sure who to get, but this definitely puts a damper on things right now. Not a good start

I guess Fant is our LT for the foreseeable future and we now need a RT and eventually still a young LT

hopefully Benton can live the rest of his life on what he’s made so far

Becton might be out for the entire season. MRI revealed that the injury is much worse than initially indicated by the trainers.

This is a "win now" season and so I fully expect the Jets to sign a starter for RT.

Reading about the options out there, it seems like there’s a lot of a average players (Jenkins, Massie, Fisher, Dillard) or injury prone players like Bulaga.

Duane Brown is the best player available if JD’s good with moving Fant back to RT. Brown hasn’t played a single game at RT in his career. He looks like a solid stop gap. Not the pro bowler he used to be, but solid and durable.

The lead up to the draft that year had Thomas, Becton, Wills, and Wirfs as the best OT’s. It was the “OT dream class”. Almost every evaluation said take your pick, they’re all studs.

Looking back, it was Wirfs and everyone else. Even Thomas and Wills have been underwhelming. It’s a crap shoot. Always is.

This is fricken awful for Becton! I feel awful for the guy who worked hard to lose weight only to get serious injury and probably out for season. I really was hoping we would get the Becton of first year to protect Zach.

Listen Gas he came in out of shape & then worked hard & got injured. He should have been in shape before Camp. 400 or 385 he looked like he was not working hard all year. at his size you can't wait until camp to be in shape. Yes some of this is word of mouth but he did not look good to me at the start.

Rappaport just reported an avulsion fracture of the right kneecap and that he is probably done for the year.

Becton hasn’t stayed in shape since year one with Jets. If he had stayed in shape it’s less likely he would have these knee injuries. Gas is right it terrible to see a young guy injured .

I don't see Becton ever coming back as a someone we can really count on as a starting Offensive lineman. He is too injury prone and has problems pushing himself away from the dinner table. A RT may shake free during late season cuts. As for the Bashers on JD's draft of Becton, Mims draft class. He has sure done one hell of a job since. If it came down to trading for a quality RT, the only trade chips IMO I think are worth trading would be CB Hall and WR Corey Davis.

I don't know if anyone on this forum is bashing JD for that. But with Becton busting, it would become a horrible draft. And so, even though Saleh has been openly critical of Becton at times, I think Becton gets a lot more leeway than normal because he's potentially the difference between a successful and failed draft.

He got leeway because of how the draft would be perceived and not his potential ceiling if he happened to stay healthy?

I think Becton is done. He will never be anything more than a goal line or short yardage road grader….. playing in speciality packages….. maybe 10 to 12 plays a game. I think that’s best we can hope for going forward
