This may be true, but until he can get healthy and stay healthy we will never know what he is capable of. He had health issues coming out of college and we can all see now that they were well founded. I think he really needs to reevaluate his workout and recovery regimes and start trying to alternate methods because he has some serious health issues.

let him come to AZ and work out with revis... he will either improve or implode

I forgot about this camp. Should be a fantastic experience for McDougal and Williams. I doubt Milliner will be ready although he should go anyway to watch.

I like McDougle. Can't exactly explain why but something about his college tapes makes me think he could be great. But then again, there have always been guys good in college that can't translate. I'll keep the faith though.

Dex has a great opportunity, not to start right away but to learn and develop behind some very good players in a scheme that is tailored to CBs. IF he can stay healthy he will definitely contribute.

Mod's rather than let the original Milliner thread just fade away, at least merge it with the new one ! 3 good pages of post here.

The best part of Revis, Cro, Dee, Dex and Williams is that the Kyle Wilson error will finally be over

I agree entirely with this quote. Cromartie..... on his worst day.... is better than anything Milliner has shown as a pro.

Give me a break Dude, just about all the Jet fans crucified Cromartie from the day he arrived the first time. He goes to Arizona and we all miss him. And IMO, Milliner has had a lot more good games then the 4 many on this board are giving him credit for. Cromartie's best days are behind him, while Milliner's are in front of him.

Milliner is going to make some plays as our dime corner this season...maybe we will see him blitz some in Bowles scheme.

Jets do not believe Milliner will be ready for week 1:

Dee Milliner - DB - Jets
Jets GM Mike Maccagnan wouldn't guarantee CB Dee Milliner (Achilles') being ready for the start of the season.
Milliner tore his Achilles' in October and may start the season on reserve/PUP, sidelining him the first six weeks. The former No. 9 overall pick has a lengthy injury history and will be behind the eight ball trying to learn coach Todd Bowles' new defense. Milliner is no higher than the No. 4 corner on the depth chart.

Cy,

were you watching the prior 10 games Milliner played in before his "4 game Breakout"? He was terrible. He bit on double moves and was playing "catch up" constantly. Even in his 2 interception game against Miami, he was cooked by Wallace for 1 TD, and was damn near cooked by Hartline on another (overthrown pass). I didnt see anything in Milliner that would make me think he is remotely close to a #2 corner (let alone a #1 ). To me, he just doesnt have a feel for the position at this level. (just like Wilson never has a feel for the position). Maybe I'm wrong (and I hope I am), but Milliner may not be the 5th best corner on this team......

He has a feel, he has shown that. He didn't show he could be Revis coming out of college in Rex's system. I sure hope we don't trade him for a futur mid round hopeful. I hope no one is counting McDougle as anything but a hopeful...last time he played a full year was his 2nd college year.

Man, some of you guy's are real negative, not only about Milliner, but everything about the Jets. I know and feel things are turning around for the Jets and I'm excited; however, some of you guy's bring me down with your negativity. Here are a few things to feel good about:
1) The team MOJO is back. With Fireman Ed coming back to lead the J E T S>Jets..Jets...Jets...
2) When Revis is introduced coming out of the tunnel.
3) Good addition of Marshall @ WR & maybe Cooper.
4) Cro-Daddy is back & the Browns hated to lose Skeens.
5) Geno has competition with a Harvard Grad who rarely makes mistakes, will also help Geno progress. I still think Geno is our starter.
6) We have numerous CB's & safeties, which should help Milliner & McDougle recover 100%.
7) Great new GM, & Coach Bowles & crew.
8) Solid RB's & FB (T-Bo)
9) Steller DL & OLB @ 6 ? Or Eli Harold OLB @ 37 ?
10) We own the 6,37 & 70 picks in the first 3 rounds. See how easy that is to think of 10 good things ?

Sorry Cy I do not agree or recollect that. What we did say was that he was soft... but could cover. His time with Revis he was very good and Rex play him with a BAD hip flexor... last year he play well and to say Millner had more the 4 good games is a stretch... maybe we were watching a different player (?) when he was constantly beat and out of position his r-year; thus, his benching multiple times.

Great post Cy....nice to start seeing signs of Jet fans united again in support of their front office, coaching staff and players after all the toxic divisiveness and internecine negativity of the past 4 years

Geno set a rookie record for most 4th quarter or over time comebacks by a rookie QB in a season. He had more passing yards and passing TDs of any rookie QB in Jets history and Geno; before the last 4 games, led the first Jets offense in team history with a 300 yard passer, 100 yard rusher, and 2 100 yard WRs with a rookie QB...but dont let the facts get in the way of a good "I hate Geno" post...

Geno wasn't ready at all to start in the NFL the day he was drafted, but had to due to injury, and is still the best rookie QB the Jets have ever had somehow. Hopefully we dont draft mariota based on this fan reaction, because we'll be sitting exactly where we are now in 2 years with everyone calling him a bum despite everyone knowing the day he was drafted he wasnt ready to play yet...and we're evaluating a QB based on when he wasnt ready to play but played...
Yea and didn't Sanchez have the record before geno? 4-2 in the playoffs with the most cone from behind wins.
Stats in fluff time don't matter, the most comebacks in an 8-8 season and a 4-12 season? Stats need context.
Want he ranked as the worst qb in the nfl among the 32 starters?

My instincts are that geno can practice hard and sneak up with a good game, but as a long term starter, defenses would easily plan for him. I also believe in open competition and his right to prove me wrong.
I think we are in great shape overall, and am very confident in management's decisions.
I also know with a strong d, our qb's won't have to feel pressured into putting the team on their shoulders, which should eliminate some stupid throws.

Good point. After 4 years playing a shotgun spread offense, his first 20+ games he doesn't look like Aaron Rodgers, or even Big Ben, we should give up on him. I agree. He had the month of December, a 5 week stretch, his rookie year where he was the highest rated QB after only Peyton Manning and after returning to the line-up after being benched last year he was the 7th ranked QB in the NFL...

...but it's been two season, cut him and move on. For those who feel this way, dont draft Mariota, who also spent years in a spread offense out of shotgun, because we'll need to cut him in 2 years also, because if Mariota had to go 2 season with Stephen Hill, Kerley, David Nelson, Jeff Cumberland, and Decker with a pulled hamstring...we'd have another failed developed QB and Mariota isn't likely to performe at a Manning's level like Geno did while playing with Cumberland, Nelson, Hill, and Kerley...which is what Geno was working with. Yep, cut the kid for outplaying Brady with those weapons. He's shown nothing. Good point.

I don't know exactly who you're responding to. You just said yup cut him close to 10 times. I never said cut him, in fact if you read my post directly above this post you would know that. But your assertion that he had greatness and just needs more coaching, I disagree with. And by your logic of come from behind wins, Sanchez should still be our starter.

It's only my opinion based on what I've seen, and as I said he has the opportunity to prove me wrong.
The point of this board is not to over dramatize people with different opinions but to post and have rebuttals.
