I don’t want to start over again. The AFC is brutal ever since Brady left it.

i still like JD. I hope Saleh grows cause he’s probably a good guy

not sure where we go after Rodgers. That’s the biggest problem if they have a solid year. He has to stay atleast another year after this and train his replacement
If you look at Florida State without Jordan Travis, hopefully that translates into him being a valuable QB.

The Jets had been doing what Iggles did with Huff for years. We may find out that Huff was a product of the system and the Iggles paid dearly. The last two games notwithstanding, Saleh and defensive staff have developed a good young core. Reddick was always a one year rental while Johnson and McDonald continue their development. What we didn't expect was to lose JJ or for WMcD to break out. Bottom line is that JoeD has lost his leverage but we still have options for the DE role.

Reddick. I still don't think you will ever see this guy in a Jet Uni.
He obviously doesn't want to play here or this would be resolved.
Best you're going to see is a trade. Maybe.
I still say eff'em. Let him sit and twist in the wind for all I care. Do not cave.

Here is a question. If Reddick comes in at week 11 to get this year counted, do we have to take him. Can he be suspended or something ? I don’t want a 6 game rental, then he leaves as an FA . If that’s the case, then just trade him sometime in the next couple weeks an be done with it . Perhaps someone can can explain the exact rule on this because I don’t know if we have to take him or not

If he shows we have to take him. Don't have to play him but he gets credit for the full season and is a FA. If he gets a qualifying offer, we could possibly get a compensatory pick in 2026

At this point, bring in Carl Lawson or Shaq Lawson so we have some depth. They aren't JJ, but we need help on the D-line. Douglas should have never have traded away JFM (should have just restructured his contract and keep him for an all in season).

The Jets never made Huff any offer.
it was clear at the time that any numbers between Huff's people and JD were never going to be close given waht the market was bearing. JD never saw Huff as an every down DE. I've just seen him get swallowed up and be ineffective. PHI might want to move him around.

It's pretty clear the Jets D staff knows what to do with developing DEs....JJ came in and took a full year to get to what he became in 2023. McDonald now starting to flash more (signs were there last season). It's just possible that Huff was already in the perfect spot for his skillset, but also probably needs time to adjust to new system.

There's a lot of difference between being a pass rushing specialist in a 3-4 (which I guess they call edge these days ) and an every down DE in a 4-3 defense. Some guys are better suited for one over the other.

Huff and Reddick. I believe these guys wanted to stay with their respective teams but those Teams didn't want them. Especially at the price they got and want. The Jets were never going to pay Huff because they recognized he was a Situational Player and not an every down one.
Reddick is simply a mystery. The thought process is not logical, to say the least. Who knows what's going on?
Maybe the Jets traded for Reddick with no intention of signing Him long term.
Let Him play out his contract year and let Him go. They have a lot of young guys to pay in the coming years and tying up a boatload of cash in Reddick doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you really look at it. They just never thought He would holdout. I believe there's more to this than meets the eye. See how it plays out.

My question on the Reddick side has always been "No one you've ever played for has every wanted to sign you long term! Why does he think he can force his way to his dream contract?"

That's why I think as soon as Reddick found out He was traded to the Jets, He was like, "Eff That". Reddick has Jetitis.
I'm starting to think JD didn't have any intention of paying Reddick long term.
I think they were just going ride out His contract year and let Him go. For the reason above and they still have to pay that great draft class soon. No use giving that cash to a soon to be on the wrong side of 30 DE.

The Cardinals tried to make Riddick a middle LB and refused to play him outside. They declined his 5th year option and Jones injury forced them to play him on the edge he exploded.
He signed a one year prove it deal with Carolina, followed by a 3 year deal with Philly.
Philly could not afford to pay him an extension so they gave him permission to seek a trade which he refused. They then traded him to the Jets.
