). Based
on data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Oxford Handbook of State and Local
Government Finance, Budget Committee staff calculated at least an additional $283 billion in state
contributions to those same federal programs,
1
for a total annual expenditure of $1.03 trillion. By
comparison, in 2011, the annual budget expenditure for Social Security was $725 billion, Medicare was
$480 billion, and non-war defense was $540 billion.

The exclusively federal share of spending on these federal programs is up 32 percent since 2008, and now
comprises 21 percent of federal outlays (this share too is more than Social Security, Medicare, or defense).

As a historical comparison, spending on the 10 largest of the 83 programs (which account for the bulk of
federal welfare spending) has doubled as a share of the federal budget over just the last 30 years. In
inflation-adjusted dollars, the amount expended on these 10 programs has increased by 378 percent
over that time.

the second-largest federal welfare program—has quadrupled since
2001, yet the USDA has a variety of programs and advertisements whose explicit and unmistakable goal is
to expand enrollment to new record highs. This even includes an official partnership with the Mexican government to expand food stamp enrollment among foreign nationals.

Meanwhile, the Department of State and the Department of Homeland Security have effectively waived the
legal requirement that those seeking admittance into the U.S. not be welfare reliant. More information on
this controversial policy may be found here.

for every negative story on welfare though you should post the positive ones.

Also keep in mind if it wasn't for welfare we would have alot more people committing crimes to survive and the homeless would be way more.

In alot of cases the people on welfare are on it because major corporations like walmart, mcdonalds refuse to pay a decent living wage.

then you have these companies that pay their CEO's billion dollar bonuses and take their factories and build overseas.

If these companies paid a decent wage and american companies had stricter import taxes then maybe thee companies would stay in the usa and give jobs to people so the welfare is not needed.

BTW, this isn't propaganda. This is from a report by the United States Senate Budget Committee trying to explain why the US is in $18,085,826,074,242 as of January 2015.

LOL

Actually it should be left alone on football boards. The united states has one of the highest crime rates in the world. it isn't about hunger, it's about drugs. Throwing trillions of dollars on this doesn't make it go away. Requiring people who receive welfare to take drug tests, just like the people who work have to, would go a long way in eliminating a large portion of the problem.

Communism has failed in every country it has infected. Every one of these countries has degraded to a totalitarian regime, who enslave their people.

Absolute lie. How they make their money is by fueling business with the profits. That's what makes economy's strong, provide jobs, and get people off drugs. If welfare is provided to people who consider it a 4th generation "family business" very soon the structure collapses. As the US econemy is doing right now because it is top heavy with non productive people, who want to hate on people who have produced

that is how it is supposed to work but in reality they pay slave wages to people in china and mexico working their business that are supposed to be in america and then tiurn around and buy 5 mansions and 30 cars and give to political parties to make sure the common man is held down and they get richer by passing the laws they want.

They’re on the dole — and watching the pole.
Welfare recipients took out cash at bars, liquor stores, X-rated video shops, hookah parlors and even strip clubs — where they presumably spent their taxpayer money on lap dances rather than diapers, a Post investigation found.
A database of 200 million Electronic Benefit Transfer records from January 2011 to July 2012, obtained by The Post through a Freedom of Information request, showed welfare recipients using their EBT cards to make dozens of cash withdrawals at ATMs inside Hank’s Saloon in Brooklyn; the Blue Door Video porn shop in the East Village; The Anchor, a sleek SoHo lounge; the Patriot Saloon in TriBeCa; and Drinks Galore, a liquor distributor in The Bronx.

i agree a drug test would be a start but it needs a lot more than that because most of the times the single moms who go on welfare need it but the prob is their asshole bf or father of her four kids does not apply either so he continues to sell drugs or whatever but then takes the foodstamps and or cash and talks his way into her giving it to him.

we have a high crime rate because most people are not afraid of the consequences or prison time here.

if we had stricter penalties for people who commit a crime then we would lessen the crime rate.

technically most of the criminals don't get caught anyway they wind up millionaires or in political office or on wall street

The asshole boy friend 90% of the time lives in the house, illegally, and moma allows it. Yep the solution is to pour more money on them.

There is lots of work out there. The problem is it's a supply and demand world. Unskilled, uneducated, unmotivated people expect to be paid like upper middle income people. Won't work unless they are. Why should they, the government provides housing, food, cell phones, beer and drug money,. Why work?

In spite of Obama's attempt to destroy it North Dakota is experiencing a tremendous economic boom in the oil industry. Problem is North Dakota being light in population, and a very rough environment, can't find people willing to work.

If a person lives in an area that has a very weak job market, the work isn't going to come to them, MOVE where the work is. Yep the work is hard, but it's sure better then whining.
