Tampering double standard?

Do you not see how desperate a move this is by Woody? He is clearly very concerned over the penalties the league may impose on the Jets for tampering. For the record Kraft's comments, Bob Kraft- “We thought we made a very competitive offer,” Kraft said yesterday from the league meetings at the Arizona Biltmore. “I speak as a fan of the New England Patriots — we wanted to keep him. We wanted him in our system, and we have certain disciplines. We had hoped it worked out. It didn’t."

Those comments do not fit the Leagues criteria for tampering no matter how you spin it, and in addition, they do not fit the leagues criteria for showing a potential negative impact on the relationship between the team and player.

Insider Buzz: NFL Execs Believe Patriots Originally Tampered with Revis in 2014

Not an off the cuff remark, but the real kind of tampering, where you actually contact a player under contract elsewhere.

This is the equivalent of Bob Kraft filing tampering charges for an off the cuff remark:

So does that mean the Pats warrant two tampering charges with Revis? One when he left the Bucs and the other Kraft's recent comment?

That would be nice, but of course it will never happen because we all know Kraft is the real commish of the NFL and Goodell is his assistant, not the other way around.

LMAO!!!! :emoticon-cartoon-02

You sound like every other Patsie fan on the planet, totally full of shit and defending the hive at all cost. The sad part is, you people in Patsie Homerville are so delusional that you sincerely believe you are being objective and that the rest of the world just hates you because you win. Never mind that nobody hated the dynastic Packers or Steelers or Cowboys or 49ers etc., a little envy to be sure, but nothing even approaching the level of hatred that is directed at the Patriots and their pathetic fans, of which you are the ideal representative. People hate you and your lousy team because you bend and break the rules at every turn, then have the balls to puff your chest out and talk about "The Patriots Way", like your scumbag team is holier than thou, which is absolutely laughable to the rest of the world ... and then, worst of all, whenever someone calls you out for your hypocrisy and cheating, you go into this same sad kabuki dance you are going into here, twisting yourself into a pretzel to defend that drunken slob you call an owner and the rest of your cheating dooshbags, "RULES FOR THEE, BUT NOT FOR ME", because you are above the rules, and why, because you win, like winning gives you a license to do whatever the f**k you want and rub peoples noses in it.

You know what you are?

You are Red Sox fans who spent your whole lives railing against the perceived arrogance of Yankee fans, and then, the moment you experienced something even approaching consistent success with one of the teams you root for, not even in the same universe as the Yankees, but just a taste of what it feels like to root for a winner, you turned into Yankee fans on steroids, or should I say your perception of Yankees fans on steroids, because you are a bunch of hypocrites!

Over & Out

PS. You wouldn't know what objectivity is if it fell on you and hit you in the head.

I am not intending to knock the Yankees fans among the Jets base, but this is incredibly true. I have been saying it for years.

Pats fans are the same Red Sox fans who whine, bitch, and moan about the Yankees and their fans being arrogant. They complain when they hear about "The Yankee Way," or "kiss the rings." They cringe when they hear, "you're just jealous."

Then Labor Day hits. What happens on Labor Day? All those traits the Sox fans hated from April through August, they adopt. You hear them talk about "The Patriot Way," "kiss the rings." Dare say anything against them, and you get accused of being jealous.

Its the clockwork orange syndrome, where the bullied get their turn at bat to be the bullies, and they turn out to be even more cruel than the bullies they used to rail against. Its amazing to me how the irony is lost on Patriots fans, who for the most part are also Red Sox fans who claim to loathe the arrogance of Yankee fans, how they are a million times bigger pr**ks when it comes to the Patriots. They have adopted every obnoxious trait they have ever attached to Yankee fans, then multiplied it by a thousand for themselves.

And I take no offense, sack ... again, I am speaking as a Yankee fan.

Well, Yankees fans aren't two-faced about it. They own the attitude.

Provincial Boston sports fans (and they all like the same four local teams, in lockstep) are hypocritical about it. They complain about the Yankee attitude one minute, and act even more arrogantly the next. It's all so they can claim some moral high ground, like what you've seen in this thread.

Exactly.

I never met a Yankee fan who even bothers to dispute that Yankee fans are arrogant. They'll tell you 27 championships, the most in North American history in any of the four major sports, entitles them to a certain degree of arrogance. You can call that itself arrogance and hate them for it, Yankee fans know why they are hated and they've long since reconciled themselves to it, but you can't call them phonies who rail against the arrogance of other fans, then claim to be holier than thou themselves. They don't get indignant about it if you call them obnoxious and arrogant, they know its true, call a Yankee fan arrogant and he'll plead guilty as charged, generally speaking, allowing for the exceptions to every rule.

So its not really the arrogance I despise in Patriots fans, its the rank hypocrisy. There are no bigger critics of Yankee fans arrogance on the planet, yet the moment the Patriots (and Red Sox!!) had a run of success, the obnoxiousness and arrogance of these people became absolutely unbearable. You can't say "BOO" about the Patriots without these people becoming extremely tribal and defensive, and their conclusions and rationalizations are always the same, "we're great and the rest of you just hate us because we're great." Its impossible to have a conversation with these people that is even mildly critical of the Patriots, because their knee-jerk reaction is ALWAYS to defend the hive and the holy trinity of Belichick, Brady and Kraft like you would defend the Ark of the Covenant, and brand all of their critics as jealous haters.

Ordinarily I don't let this stuff bother me. It usually rolls off my back like water off a duck. But when I have this guy here for two weeks essentially demanding a death sentence for the Jets for an off the cuff remark, harping on the letter of the law and wanting our heads on a stick, then he has the balls to consider the nuance when Kraft makes an off the cuff remark, then he wants to analyze the rule and the intent with a fine tooth comb, thats too much for me, I can only stand for so much hypocrisy, at some point you just have to stand up and call it bullshit.

Okay I just realized what it is that irked me so much about grogan. I have the perfect analogy.

For weeks he's been coming here and acting like Inspector Javert from Les Miserables. The ultimate law & order man determined to see Woody hanged for an off the cuff remark, the equivalent of stealing a loaf of bread. There was no reasoning with him. No talk of intent. Didn't care that Woody immediately called Kraft to apologize. Didn't want to hear anything about anything. All he cared about was the letter of the law and hanging this man for stealing a loaf of bread.

AND THEN, the moment Kraft opened his big, drunken mouth and started talking about a player who was under contract with the Jets, the same guy who for weeks was demanding the strictest interpretation of the law and was demanding Woody's head on a stick, all kinds of sanctions that are the equivalent of a death sentence or at least 20 Years Hard Labor, INSTANTLY transformed himself into an ACLU bleeding heart defense attorney who wanted to parse Kraft's every word, read his intent, and began to proclaim his clients innocence from the rooftops.

Like I said, I can take only so much hypocrisy and this takes hypocrisy to a whole new level.

I would disagree...but I can't. That's exactly what he did.

Hey Sack Exchange, give this predictable stiff a rest. You'll never change his mind nor will you ever enlighten him to see what all of us know of him, that he's basically a liar, deep down...blinded by fandom. He's not honest and he's pit himself against a wall. We all know it, he's fundamentally wrong and hasn't a leg to stand on.

I would guestimate you spend more than 50% of your posts devoted to him. You're a good poster and should devote more of your energy and ideas elsewhere and join the rest of us. Either ban him (and you would not be wrong to do so), ignore him or just leave him be as he desperately tries to save face by bring on the wrong end at every turn.

He has the honor of being the first that I used the ignore button on as I saw quickly there's no reaching that guy. Some learn at a much slower pace than the general population (like me) and some (like this guy), not at all. We can't reach everyone.

Honestly Setter, I wouldn't ban grogan. Yes he's a typical Patsie homer and its annoying, but at the same time its fun to have rival fans around so its not ALL Jets fans talking to one another. Its good to engage the enemy on occasion as well, from a football perspective, not enemy in the literal sense. Grogan is not abusive or anything like that. Truth is I was abusive towards him and I feel bad about it, I just couldn't endure another minute of the hypocrisy, how first he's Inspector Javert when its Woody who opened his big yap, then the next minute he's a world class defense attorney when Kraft opened his big mouth, and thats because he has his heart set on seeing the Jets punished for what amounted to a slip of the tongue. Its petty and vindictive and if the commish didn't have his head planted in Bob Kraft's ass he would have told him; "it wasn't malicious, Woody was asked a question and he answered it without thinking, now accept his apology so we can move on from this nonsense, don't waste my time with this, go pour yourself another drink and bang that hot young chick you've been running around with, that will make you feel better." :)

But for the record I do agree that SE is a really good poster and I wish he wouldn't waste so much time on this. I really like reading his Jets/football stuff.

good post and i am glad i didn't have to step-in...........truth is yes he is a pats fan but their are pats fans like grogan who debates for his team and that is very understandable.

then their are pats fans like shasta who i would ban in a instant because i know what they would bring to the board and it wouldn't be good.

TX I am on the fence about but i think he is entrenched at jetsnation.

I'm on the fence here about banning, because he has been abusive to posters here, but in more of a passive-aggressive way most often. His abuse has been less direct than some. At the same time, he really doesn't add anything of value to the board. It's not like he's posting in non-Pats threads. All he is doing to spewing his Pats propaganda.

There are fans of other teams that offer contributions to boards. This guy? I'm not seeing it.

well your tit-for-tat response seemed to be a broad based attack at all jets fans.

by prefacing your comments by saying "if i were a jets fan..." you certainly seem to implicating the entire jets fan base as some drunken, tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorists who probably devolved to such state based on repeated failures of their football team.

fortunately for you, you are a patriots fan. ergo, you feel superior to us lowly jets fans

To the tin foil hat wearing crowd I absolutely feel superior, to those that can do nothing but attack me for being a Pats fan I absolutely feel superior, to those that make crap up and pass it off as fact, I absolutely feel superior as a fan.

wonder how superior you will feel when someday someone writes a tell-all book you know it's coming.........somewhere someone in the pats organization will let there guilty conscience get the best of them and for some reason they will write a tell-all book on the pats dirty/cheating ways.
