Speak of the Debbil - see Cook with OAK last night?
Pretty damn good QB - a long sight better than either Petty or Hack has ever shown.
2 TDs on his watch, though both were by rushing - they were LONG rushing TDs of 53 & 36 yards, made possible because the defense was wary of Cook's arm, accuracy, & quick reads.
Kid's a gamer, alrighty.
If Petty continues to display progression in week 2 and 3, Geno will be finally traded and that will finally place an end to this issue.

Jets practice recap from the Florham Park sauna: David Harris, Mo Wilkerson and Matt Forte didn't practice. Ryan Fitzpatrick (36 reps) was 11-for-18, 4 TDs. Highlight was a 55-yard TD bomb to Eric Decker. Fitzpatrick got all the first team reps, as usual. Geno Smith (22 reps) was 8-for-14, 1 INT. Bryce Petty (18 reps) was 7-for-12, 1 TD. Christian Hackenberg (3 reps) was 1-for-1. Strong day for LB Jordan Jenkins.

Jets coach Todd Bowles said there is "no competition" between Geno Smith and Bryce Petty for the No. 2 quarterback job.
Petty was surprisingly competent in the preseason opener, leading to some speculation he could push Geno for the backup job. Even though Bowles put that idea to bed, Petty still has to show well to convince the Jets to keep four quarterbacks on the final roster, something no team has done since 2013.

You wouldnt think this would give Bryce that much more fuel to make the coaching staff think twice about that?
C'mon man.
A veteran quarterback should make the players around him better,this is Geno's fourth year and the offense looked smoother with Petty,that should tell you something.
