And why would the eagles trade with a team that is not going to draft Mariota.... Unless they feel we are and they can't make a trade with us.... I think if Mariota isn't drafted by the Titans. He is definitely falling to us at 6... Jags, Skins and Raiders are not drafting a QB.... So if I am the Eagles I have the trade worked out now with the Jets. If Foley is included in the deal we are listening....

LOL, Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger ! Maybe the Eagles feel that we might decide to keep Mariota ourselves, so they want to jump us ? And as far as the Skins & Eagles being in the same conference, so ? If the Skins feel like they are raping the Eagles in the trade, they'll make the trade.

Sorry

Not giving away the 6 for an injured NFL QB with one relatively decent season and an injured LB who had one good season

They want to dump Foles on us

OK Separate trade even up for Geno is equal value

For Mariota they better include the 20, their second this year and their first and second in 16 as starters in the negotiations

have you seen kiko play? I would take him in a second

Of course I've seen him play

I've also seen him miss last season with a torn ACL.

I would gladly take Alonso and the 20 and additional picks.

It's the love affair with Foles, a one year starting meh game manager who was reportedly about to be benched before his injury that is the deal killer for me

yeah, if you're gonna suck do a proper job of it..
I don't know if Rex did that to us on purpose as a F-you gift because he knew he was on his way out. Or did he actually think by winning some games when the season was over by week #6 really that this was going to save his job. Curious to know what his thinking was here. As far as the players go, they will always play to win because that's how their wired but what were the coaches and GM thinking? I guess the same and why I don't know!

I don't see any of those teams taking Mariota. Philly isn't stupid. They know if he gets past Tennessee, he's dropping to #6 . If it happens, I would expect a draft day deal. I don't know how accurate the "reports" are about how the Jets feel about Mariota, but if Macc doesn't believe Mariota is a franchise QB, you make that deal. It's gotta be Foles, #20 , next year's #1 , and probably a 2nd rounder this year or in 2016. Something along those lines.

It's not that they're in the same conference. The Jets and Browns are in the same conference, and they worked out that trade for Sanchez.

It's that they're in the same division! They play each other twice a year. They're bitter rivals. Neither is going to do anything that helps the other get better.

maybe i'm wrong but i think rex thoroughly enjoyed plucking up the jets draft position on his way out the door..

I agree 1000000000000000%. What I don't understand is why didn't Woody or Idzik demand that Rex lose every game after the Steelers win to assure us the # 1 or #2 spot at the least. Sure the players play hard to win every game and I guess the coaches coach hard to win every game but if the orders came from management or the owner itself, then its not on the players and/or coaches. Don't know if that would have been some kind of tampering or penalty charge against the team but I don't see why. I guess if text-gate is a penalty then demand-to-tank gate would have been also, LOL!

Why would the Skins trade within their division to allow a rival to draft a top-tier QB prospect?

...they've traded players/picks before, McNabb a few years ago actually...Djax walking down south to join the Skins last year happened also.

the eagles certainly weren't "helping" the redskins by unloading a washed up mcnabb on them..

That's true, but with all the trouble the Skins have had at solidifying a franchise QB, with RG3 and Cousins, and even further back, how would their fan base react to trading a pick that is used on a highly touted QB? Especially when it goes to the Eagles?

McNabb was a trade, yes. But DJax wasn't. That is apples and oranges.

Umm, that's kind of the point, here. To flip this around, why would they offer a trade to a team that would select Mariota? That makes no sense.
Am I missing something here?
And the obvious reason would be that either the Jets at 6 or the Bears at 7 could pull the trigger. But I think everyone's ignoring the looming possibility that the Rams could also be looking to move up. Philly doesn't know where that could happen. The Bears could do the same. If I were Chip and we know how desperate he is for Ducks, he should be looking at 2, 3 or 4 to secure Mariota.

Just recent examples of player exchanges, Captain. Keep my cell warm, would you?

Certainly a possibility. But I don't think that anyone's nearly as confident about the odds of Mariota's success than the Eagles. He's a system fit for Chip Kelley. It's virtually guaranteed to work in Philadelphia. Can you say the same thing about St. Louis or Chicago? Mariota needs the right system, and the Eagles have it, along with one of the best coaches in the NFL, who's got intimate familiarly with Mariota. It's makes entirely too much sense.

Of course, shocking developments usually do come out of nowhere on draft day, so...

McNabb was definitely an exchange. But DJax was cut by the Eagles, and then went to the Skins. I'm not sure I'd call that a player exchange, but I'm sure there is no common ground on this semantics issue.

I think your point more accurately would be involving blockbuster trades. This would be in that category and divisional foes are kind out of bounds for such transactions as your fan base could really let you know it if you were fleeced by a contender. It's dangerous.

I'm with you and kind of throw out the possibility that the Eagles and Redskins do business here.

Agreed. Minor deals can happen. But this would be a blockbuster. I just don't see it.

Too much bad can happen, for either side. If Mariota becomes a stud, the Skins will get destroyed. If the Eagles give up a lot, and Mariota's a bust, the ever-so-patient Philly fans will kill the Iggles.

Exactly. Risky business from a PR point of view. And trust me, that matters.
