Lets talk Draft Trade options for the Jets...

If they want one of the 2 top WR, they may be willing to trade more then a #1 and #3 . Depends how desperate they are!

There are way to many good WR's to actually trade up for one... That ain't happening... If the Browns are going to trade up they are going to trade up for a QB

Well there are people on this board that felt we would get Foles, #20 , 2nd and next years 1st for our 6th. People are really unrealistic with what they think teams will give up.

How do you know that's unrealistic? Many analysts were coming up with very similar values. What, they're all stupid or deluded? If so, based on what? Where's your evidence against such a notion? This was discussed with lots of examples that included previous trades up from that far in the 1st round. The trade value chart was cited as well as Foles' projected worth.
You don't have anything here yet you want to sound smarter than everyone with nothing. I guess we should just take your word that all those posters were stupid, right? And if so, why does this need to be aired? Are you that insecure that you need to belittle others?
I don't recall you being part of that discussion but you're quite eager now to demean everyone who argued against your thought here. That's a terrible post.

No way would I be on board for the Jets to do that. We have way too many holes that could be filled with those picks. Mariota is not Luck for gods sake!!

*Where are our holes>? We just took care of our secondary to go along with a great D-Line that can get to the QB.

*Our WR core is excellent alongside our up and coming Tight end. Our O-Line just got better with Carpenter at LG and we have excellent depth as well.

*RB is possibly the only other area to go along with Ivory.

Our main issue is at QB. If our organization feels Mariota is that type of player that can be our franchise QB, then why not?

If they really feel he is worth blowing up a draft for payoff 3 years from now then I guess we all have no choice.

It's now being revealed that the Chargers are strongly in the Mariota trade market. SD picks at 17. What would they have to do to move up to our pick?

I believe they would have to part with players in addition to their pick. ILB's Donald Butler, Manti Teo and RT DJ Fluker could be bargaining chips. I don't think they'd part with Keenan Allen. Apparently Rivers is walking after next season.

Not sure how much interest will be if Mariotta is gone by 6. Just seems their are multiple similar talent on offense and defense. Why would a team want to trade up if they could stay put and get similar talent?

All it takes is one team. the Bills could've stayed put last year and drafted OBJ or Evans, yet traded up for Watkins. Teams fall in love with a player and all bets are off.

There have been numerous attempts to revise Jimmy Johnson's draft pick "value" chart over the years, mainly based on the spiraling costs of high draft picks.
Sam Bradford's $72M contract was the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak, and the NFL Owners and NFLPA came to understand that players who haven't earned a single snap at the NFL level are not worthy of more compensation on Day 1 than a 5X All-Pro.

With that realization came the 2011 CBA institution of a pre-assigned slotted rookie salary cap, so that everyone knows EXACTLY what each draft pick is going to get before the draft even starts.
Now, Jimmy Johnson's "value" chart starts making a lot more sense again, so most GMs have gone back to it.
For several years there, it WAS a joke, however.

A revised version attempt.

Bear in mind one additional wheeling & dealing FACT.
Any FUTURE pick is valued as occurring at the bottom of the round that pick falls into.
ANY future Rd 2 pick is valued as the 64th pick - the last pick - in Rd 2, of that year's draft.
It doesn't matter if the pick received belonged to Trampa or New England - it's the LAST pick in whichever round it nominally occurs in, to the selling GM involved.
Even if incredibly unlikely, the #1 picking team in this year's draft COULD go on to win the Super Bowl and end up picking last in next year's draft.
Thus the assignment to last pick of the round.

THE JIMMY JOHNSON DRAFT PICK VALUE CHART.

This is one of the reasons why I thought Jimmy should've been a 1st ballot HOF'er. His contributions to the game were immense as he revolutionized the draft as a way to rebuild a team. He took advantage of compensatory picks when no one even understood the meaning.

Latest rumor....Philip Rivers to the Jets. Possibly on draft day. Chargers apparently really like Mariota.

Rivers has already said he won't extend his current deal with them.

Walk-year QB Philip Rivers intends to play out the final season of his contract without a new deal.

"Honestly, nothing," was Rivers' response when asked if there was anything that would change his mind. Rivers has also changed course on the Chargers' stadium issue. Previously, he said it wouldn't affect talks. Now he says it will. "What we’ve established here with my growing family is hard to recreate," Rivers said. "The good thing is I’m not under contract in a year where we’d potentially be in Los Angeles." For his part, Chargers GM Tom Telesco declined to unequivocally say that Rivers wouldn't be dealt. "I don’t like Philip as our QB, I love him," Telesco said. "And I’ll go to war with him." Per reporter Kevin Acee, there's been speculation in league circles that the Bolts could target Oregon QB Marcus Mariota. Rivers' San Diego status is a back-burner issue that could begin to boil.

I think I might actually do it just for their 2nd round and Rivers. Rivers has a few years at a high level.

Yeah, that might be more reasonable but knowing they need to unload him, I'm not sure it would take much more. But I'm sure the Redskins also make that deal. Same with Tennessee.
